Im not sure I've seen a fanbase complain about the refs like this bunch has after last Saturday. If I had a dollar for everytime I've read "I'm happy for State fans, but those refs..." Or "I'm not one to complain about refs, but...."

It's all I've heard this week. I think maybe two people have offered congratulations without mentioning the refs, and one of them works in the Athletic Department.

Here's the thing.... even if the refs gave them a raw deal it's about 17'n time! They're acting like they never catch any breaks when they've made two absolutely magical runs to the NC game in the last 5 years where they caught every break I can think of. The only call they're hanging their hat on is the offensive PI and Coates has already admitted that he pushed off to make that catch.

As a prosecutor, I generally enjoy hearing about how wronged asshats feel they are, but it's been a slow week at work so I've just been reading article comments on al.com to satiate my needs.

And they have another week before they play again and get the chance to relieve any remaining soreness.

The saddest part about it is that it WAS pass interference. It may have been slight and it may have been a call that normally doesn't get flagged, but Coates did clearly push off to get separation. Whatever the case, they're conveniently forgetting about at least two times that their DBs mugged our receivers on passes, but didn't have anything called. Oh well...

When we were on our 4 year run with them during the 90s every year it was a different excuse. I told one of them at year 4 you know if we keep beating you eventually it may be because we actually had a good team. I think it went right over his head.

Totally agree here. They're complaining because they didn't have any plays where the ball literally fell out of the sky, into one of their player's hands. They're used to that and have gotten the luckiest breaks I've ever seen. Second, we just flat out kicked their ***.

Is it just me or were there PLENTY of times during the game where their o-line blatantly held our d-line/linebackers on a rush?

I tweeted something to the same effect. "I'veheard the refs, the cowbells and just playing bad as excuses. I had heard very little credit given to the opponent." All that did was stoke the fires on the complaining about the refs again.

In thread buy/sell. If Auburn wins out they are in the playoffs regardless of what we do from here.

Ask them about lineman blocking down field in the iron bowl. One particular play led to a TD and was a no call as the lineman was ten yards downfield and the ball sailed over the LB's head as he came up to play the run. 17ing boogs.

I would think that's an easy buy. That would give them wins over USCe, TAMU, Ole Miss, UGA and Bama. Would also give them a very strong chance of advancing to the SECCG again.

Can't wrap my head around it, either. I have two very good friends that went to Auburn that are very knowledgeable of SEC football, but when it comes to their team (particularly AU vs MSU), it's like a switch flips and they just go brain dead. It's just impossible that the other team outplayed them.

Judging from the 2500+ comments on this story, I'd say the angst is still thick. They're still going strong this morning.

[h=1]SEC contacts Auburn, discusses concerns about critical penalties at Mississippi State[/h]http://www.al.com/auburnfootball/index.ssf/2014/10/sec_contacts_auburn_discusses.html#incart_most-read

My current fav comment: "take away those 38 points and Auburn wins!"

YOu have to give our fans some sympathy. We did get our tails kicked and MSU's defensive line is the MAIN REASON we lost. The next would be the turnovers and the red zone production. Kudos to you for that . But if you spotted a team 21 points and were trying to crawl back into the game that was against the best team you have played so far and possibly the best you will play all year would you not be disappointed if the refs interjected themselves in the game? HOlding on the defensive line is a wash because except for the call on Coleman they did not call it on either side. the difference being we could not block your defensive line if we did hold them!! The refs sucked. The crew has a long history of being biased and there is video evidence of this bunch cheating in the past. So much of the angst you are getting is not just about this one loss it is about all the calls this incompetent or bought and paid for crew has done. I dont want to take anything away from MSU and sincerely hope you win out, but I never want to see Ritter's crew call and AU game again. The BIG 12 refs that raped us at KSU would be preferable to that bunch. SO without taking anything away from you since you most likely have the best team in the history of MSU , that was a poorly called game and the officials "influenced" the out come to a greater degree than normal.

AS to Coates, he did not admit to offensive PI he said if that is what the officials called it that is what it was. He has been told to not argue with the refs as that is the coaches job. That call was so bad they talked about it on the Utah Oregon State game last night. Bad enough to make a West coast broadcast. that is not about MSU that is about a bunch of officials that need to be calling Pee Wee games on Saturday morning if anything at all.

Neat. You still lost the game loser.

And tomorrow morning, when you wipe the sleep from your eyes, you'll still wake up... a loser.

Just so I'm clear on your conclusions - you are claiming that the referees in that game intentionally biased their calls in the favor of Mississippi State, or at least intentionally called the game with the intent of causing Auburn to lose the game.

Is that your claim? If so, will you provide some reasonable explanation about what might motivate such a conspiracy, and how it might be secretly coordinated amongst those refs, and whoever might be involved in such a conspiracy?

Will you also provide me with directions for folding my new tinfoil hat?

The only even remotely controversial call in the entire game was the offensive PI and it was called because Coates hand was on the player's shoulder with his arm extended. Auburn fans are certainly not alone in this, but the blind spot exhibited when the other team turns the ball over or Auburn gets a call is highlighted by the high pitched wailing, knashing of teeth, and extreme panty wadding when similar plays go against them. Auburn fans like to say that Auburn "spotted" MSU 21, but no such post ever mentions the fact that MSU followed that up with four consecutive turnovers.

And no post that contains the words "without taking anything away from you" ever fails to do exactly that.

But if you spotted a team 21 points...

But nobody was spotted 21 points. Its not like we had 3 pick 6s where we were standing still covering nobody, were passed the ball, and then walked into the endzone after intercepting each pass. Points were earned.

You can go stuff your sorrys in a sack.

Auburn got away with pass interference on the very first play of the game. But there's no youtube of your homer-assed announcers whining about it.
I'm really sorry the horseshoe made out of four-leaf clovers and rabbits' feet that was crammed up Malzahn's *** came dislodged somewhere outside Birmingham.
The crew has a long history of being biased and there is video evidence of this bunch cheating in the past.

This is just like when UK fans complain the basketball refs are out to get them. It's laughable.

17 that, we win all 10! I've never really understood these "If we played them 10 times...." statements, but, damn, I don't think MSU would have 4 turnovers in any of the other games. This was about as bad as we could play.

Funny story, though (at least it is to me): I was in Austin in 1992 when we beat Texas for the 2nd year in a row. I was out partying on 6th Street with my MSU clothes on, and some drunk guy corners me in the Men's room. He wasn't being violent or anything, just wanted to let me know that Texas was better than MSU despite the ballgame. So he says "If we played y'all 10 times, we would win 8 of them, maybe 9" and I said, "I don't know about that, but I do know if we played Texas two years in a row, we would win BOTH games, because it just happened!"

What a 17ing joke. Tom Ritter was the crew that won you the iron bowl last year. Don't try to convince me that you didn't like him leading up to last week. Sure, you may not like him now, but at least it was a judgement call penalty. It could've been a flagrant violation that went uncalled.

It wasn't a bad call. He pushed off. Only a blind horses *** could not see he pushed off. That is against the rules which auburn seems to ignore.

A bad call is leaning the chain pole back to reach the ball and give a 1st down on a ball 3 inches behind the pole. And this was after a 1/2 yard bad spot.

I live in Alabama, grew up in Alabama, and I know a lot of Auburn fans. I'm married to one. Here's my feeling on the matter, and last Saturday's game didn't affect my opinion at all. Something has happened to Auburn and their fans over the years. They have come to expect every call, and I mean every one. They whine and complain constantly. They have to disrespect every other team, school, town, whatever that isn't Auburn. Oh, they smile, and in many ways they're nice, but it's sort of a sickness, in my opinion, and it equates to a meanness and bullying attitude that just isn't healthy. I've gone to games there, and in almost every case, I was miserable. I wasn't miserable because of the score or outcome of the game. I was miserable because of the attitude of the fans. Even if they know absolutely nothing about the game of football, they whine and bellyache constantly about any call or break that goes against them, even if the call is so obvious that everyone in the world knows it's the right call. Of course, the AU fans would never admit that it was a good call. Why? Simple. It went against them.

One more thing......it would be fine with me if Auburn never wins another game. And, I'll go ahead and say this. Last Saturdays victory was, to me, the best this season could offer to me. I'd rather beat Auburn than anybody other than TSUN.

You really believe any State fan who has cheered for this team for more than a month is going to give Auburn any sympathy? Your team and fans are a 17ing joke. I have never in my life come across whinier people than Auburn fans. Everything is either 1. Bama's fault 2. The ref's fault. You people have incessantly whined since Saturday because you got beat by a better team, all the while, the rest of the SEC had to watch you win games with a horseshoe lodged up your *** all year last year. I'm not even bringing up the **** show that was our 2011 game that you literally got EVERY call in, nor Cam Newton.

So save me the mother 17ing complaining. You people suck. Every last one of you do nothing but whine about every little thing that doesn't go your way. Man the 17 up, *******... a better team beat you on the field. You didn't spot us 21 points, we earned them. We made the plays. Hell, we gave you the same number of turnovers and you managed 13 points off of them. You got beat, *******. BEAT. Now shut the 17 up.
