the offense improves DRAMATICALLY. That ESPN2 exposure cuts both ways. If we look ****** on offense, well ................

How does beating two teams like Ruston and Lafayette land a team in the top 25?

Sell because to move into the top 25, several teams ranked ahead of us would have to loose a game. Being that there will probably be 20 or so teams ranked ahead of us (most of which will be playing pansies the first couple of weeks of the season), I highly doubt it'll happen.

...and expect the media to automatically respect you in the 8th. It's going to take a lot more than beating the 2 LA schools. I don't think even beating Auburn would make us a shoe in the following week.

Assuming you mean we look moderately impressive in those two wins, I can definitely see us breaking in at the 23 or the 24 spot for Week 3.

I seem to recall we got a smattering of also-ran votes in the final post-season poll, which of course means they're watching. The first game is one everyone will see just because, and that early in the season, everything below the top 10 is pretty much a toss up anyway.

This is a logical 'sell' scenario, but you have to remember, these are sportswriters, it's early in the season, and it's a poll anyway. There's not a lot of firm logic about it.

Seriously, though, the only way I see us getting ranked at that time will be if Auburn is ranked the week we beat them.

to impress the voters. We'll have to start 3-0 with a win over Auburn to move into the top 25.
