Not too worried but the McCall detail there doesn’t make me feel great. I do get why a QB would want to play for Freeze but I would rather play for Coen
The McCall part is the only part that concerns me, him canceling tells me auburn is going to go all in on leary and throw him a bag
Leary isnt like the dual threat guys Freeze featured at Ole Miss & Liberty. Clearly if this is a football decision our pro style scheme is a better fit. Guess we find out Sunday what kind of choice is made.
Auburn has a BOATLOAD of money to throw at Portal players. If Leary wants to play with superior offensive weapons under an NFL OC, he'll come to UK. If he is looking for a big payoff to hedge against his NFL draft stock, he'll attend Auburn.

Not having a panic attack, but realistic! Auburn has a much larger NIL pool, he scheduled a last min visit there, and their other QB recruit is backing off. Just reading the writing.
We really have a full proof pitch man. We’ll get our guy. Pro style offense w/ dynamic weapons = Leary’s shot to prove understanding and efficiency in pro style scheme. Give him time and he’ll make the right choice. Who wants to turn into another big numbers guy mid 2nd round-third round guy in the draft. Plus the nil stuff at QB doesn’t worry me.
Auburn got a visit from the Coastal Carolina QB earlier in the week. I think about the time Leary was visiting here. Now Mertz is visiting us this week-end. This should be real interesting going forward.

Maybe Mertz is who they originally want, but decided to have options by talking to Leary, considering Mertz went for a visit to Florida last week.
I share your concern. This is not good. There is no way Kentucky can compete with any Alabama SEC school when it comes to money aka NIL.

More than the character issues, Freeze is like Gus in that his system does not prepare qbs for the next level, at all. I've got family/friends who are TN Titan fans, they say Malik Willis came from Liberty completely unprepared in basic skills needed for the position. Freeze had him 2 yrs.
Not sure prepping players for the pros is what colleges need to be focused on. Win for your employer

All these QB’s entered the portal for 1 reason…..to determine their value. This really is becoming a mini version of moneyball. Teams with fewer resources have to find value. Let’s say Leary cost 750k-1M and Mertez cost 250k. Is the Leary really worth $1M considering what comes with that. Does the WR room get pissed if Leary get 1M?
All your players are for sale it doesn’t take much for them to bail. Bring in a 4 star at a higher rate or don’t keep the NIL promise. Teams have to be smart with the NIL spend which is hard to manage.

Bought "escorts" while on Ole Miss recruiting trips, using university phone. Then lied about it when the phone numbers were discovered.

Dude has some serious issues. He makes Bobby Petrino look like a saint.
But.....he claims to have change his life and if so, good for him. Just not sure he can be trusted around young girls.

He lied from the beginning about the rules, 18 level 1 violations, saying they all happened under Houston Nutt. Nutt sued and his lawyers got permission to all records. While studying those records they notice some numbers were called multiple times at all hours. Turns out those numbers belonged to escorts services, called from OM phones. He kept to his story of no wrong doings until he was exposed by various ladies in multiple towns as being a client. His business, but he was lying to everyone about everything, that he was doing no wrong, but all the violations happened under him, not Nutt. So his lying and trying to blame someone else makes him suspect to me.
You're right in your guess what's happening here. Sometimes recruiting isn't hard to understand. One QB slid into a recruiting weekend visit while another QB suddenly cancels the trip at the same time. Guessing McCall didn't cancel his trip to Auburn-- the Auburn coaches did. Clearly AU must believe they got their man in Leary.
It’s sucks because every Kentucky media person said the visit with leary went great, maybe his auburn visit was terrible, I still rather have him over mertz, and with McCall he would be perfect for auburns and freezes offense
No question-- between Leary, McCall, and Mertz Mertz is easily #3.
I hope for UKs sake you can land Leary but again, with no dog in the hunt here, have to believe Auburn feels good about Leary because McCall's visit being cancelled I just don't think is coincidental.
