he may be a pretty good coach, Iowa St is way worse of a coaching graveyard than State is...but, it just shows what happens when you fire a very successful coach for one bad season..

before firing Tubby- "but who could we hire thats better?"

Wonder if this is the exciting hire that will inject enthusiasm in recruiting like Mullen did for us?

.......a guy who's 5-19 at Iowa State as one of their top choices. They can spin it all they want, but they messed this one up. If I were an Auburn fan, I'd be furious.

That MSU made a much better hire than AU.

This has got to be a joke, right? 5-19?

I honestly would hire Dooley, Gil, Muschamp, Fisher, Cut, Wilson, Bowden, and pretty much anyone with a pulse over a Chizik.

Croom has a better record than Chizik, think about that for a second, and Im pretty sure O does as well. Just a scary thought.

after firing someone with Tubby's success and having to go head-to-head against Saban, and then the strength of the SEC West probably trimmed their list of candidates much more than they realized it would.

Smarter coaches will watch them lose for 2-3 seasons, fire Chizik, and then go after the job.

State's job was different. Coaches saw us give Crooms 5 years and he was awful. They realized they would get time to recruit and do things the way they want before feeling alot of pressure. Auburn is pressure from Day 1

Chizek's record hasnt been good at ISU, but that doesnt mean he cant coach. he led AU's defense in '04 when they were dominant. he did well at Texas too.

ISU, when he came in, was like MSU circa '02. and the two years he has been at ISU are like MSU in '03-'05. just **** for talent and team.

yeah, the hire clearly isnt as good as who they got rid of...but calling Chizek worse than Croom due to his record is seriously wrong.

I know a lot of our fans would like to judge a coach solely on recruiting rankings, but so far Chizik has a 5-19 record when he has the reins.

So he had good defenses at AU, well Im shocked. You mean a team with Karlos Dansby, Donterrius Thomas, and Carlos Rogers as well as 5 other players that ended up getting drafted off their defense was a good coordinator?

Croom went 6-16 his first two seasons while on probation in the toughest conference in America. Chizik went 5-19 with not a single remarkable win. He is on a 10 game losing streak. I would take Croom all day over Chizik.

why are you saying it again?

Iowa State had 5 winning seasons in the 7 years before they hired Chizik. Look it up. They fired McCarney after a 4-8 year. The only other losing season they had, in 2003 (2-10), was followed by a 7-5 in 2004 and another 7-5 in 2005.

With Chizik, they went from 4-8 in McCarney's last year to 3-9 and 2-10 (after a 2-0 start).

Are you Chizik's Mom or something?

...he's a very good defensive assistant coach who's gotten some seasoning as a head coach at a usually unsuccessful place. But would he be better than Tuberville? No, but then not many coaches would have been a better hire for Auburn.

I watched the 1st show to see the hot chick in the previews, and have watched every show since. It's a surprisingly good show.

I have not confirmed Chizik.

2:25 PM

This could be a ploy to soften up the fan base for Derek Dooley.

damn damn damn. i just ignored the other post because i figured you were wanting to swing your dick around and feel great about yourself. but apparently you were serious with that crap.

i live 30 minutes away from the damn school...and am surrounded every day with graduates and boosters. even when trying to ignore it all, i have gained an understanding of the program and what shape it was and now currently is in.

the greatest part of all this is that im not defending the guy...im just saying that its lazy to use his record at ISU to project how he would do elsewhere. ISU is a F'n graveyard right now. and you know how it got that way???....Danny Mac. he was abruptly fired, i agree. but his recruiting had gone to ****(that is who Chizek has had playing for him these past two years). and there were transfers and players quitting the program. add to these things, the fact that KU and Mizzou became dominant teams in the division, and the little power that was there flipped.

but hey, lets just go off of record only. dont look at who he has to work with or anything.
