OK, so Auburn just kicked our tails. Let's take a look at the facts.

Auburn recruiting classes vs Croom's recruiting classes

Rivals rank of classes: 2005 fifth year seniors today ranked Auburn #13 in nation, Crooms #33
2006 Seniors today Ranked Auburn # 10, Crooms 44
2007 Juniors today ranked Auburn # 7, Crooms class #39
2008 Sophomores today ranked Auburn # 20 Croom #44
2009 Freshmen today ranked Auburns #19, Dan the Man class # 25

If you average these 5 classes Auburn comes in at Number 13, MSU # 37

So, Auburn's Seniors and Junior class were both top 10 recruiting classes. While Crooms were in the Top 40.

What I am stating are the facts ma'am nothing but the facts.

You can't compete in SEC with a top 40 class vs a top 10 class. Also, Croom ran off the best players from these classes. Dan the Man in his first class were a top 25, it is going to take more top 20 classes to turn the corner!!!

I guess we have to wander in the desert for 40 yrs now. This generation will never see the promise land.

I think Mullen can pull it off, but it will take him longer than 6 months. If we were honest, we all knew before this season that we'd take our lumps. We've finally got competence at the AD and HC positions. This is the difference from other times over the past 10 years.

If he can't get creative now then he will never succeed. the Hunchback can't do it without a messianic qb at the helm. When the heck does he recruit the 2nd coming of tebow?? Out of Egypt, but that's it.

Our lack of talent did not scheme that defense the other night. While there is no doubt that they have more talent than us, our coaches did nothing to help that.

I would like to see a break down of offensive talent and defensive talent for the two teams. My guess is our D talent is carrying the weight for our offensive lack of talent.

were Bob Tyler and the Kang because they were both very creative. If Mullen can`t figure it out pretty quick he`ll be gone and leave us with another steaming pile like he inherited.

It seems that's what you've got to have at Mize State to be successful. I think Mullen will be fine if he can get the D straightened out & recruit a few OL.

give up. You seem to have zero hope for us anyway so maybe it would save yourself a lot of misery. Then again, some people aren't happy unless they are griping about something. Maybe you are one of those people and maybe you aren't. I certainly do not know.

We should recruit Jucos as a regular part of the plan. Forget the thinking that we don't need Jucos and that is a bad way to go. It is not. Raid those Jucos...

At approximately 6:15 Saturday night we got a call of domestic abuse from Jorden-Hare Stadium. We scambled units to investigate but found out is was just Torbush running the 3-3-5. Afterwards, we had a complaint of toilet paper abuse at Toomer's Corner.

it up when asked about Mullen's chances of success. He said that if he had the players, he would be ok. If he didn't have the players, he would struggle. Here we are. You can talk all day about schemes and so forth and so on, but if you don't have the players who can compete in the SEC, it's a tough roe to hoe.

We will wander in the desert, but at one point the DAWGS will see the promise land, but it's gonna take a long damn time. And even when we do reach the promise land we will be surrounded by enemies and we will never rest easy. I guess you did not read the disclaimer on this forum;

"Abandon all hope ye who cheer for the maroon and white"

How long have you been a bulldog fan, a year? Two years? You must have no idea.

I have faith in Mullen, but this thing he has been grafted onto, this Mississippi State, has DNA. This DNA is reluctant to evolve it seems. I hope Mullen can somehow break that predestined genetic trend to be bland, but it is not likely. Mississippi State must evolve. From football to our collective consciences, we must evolve. 9 years ago when we had a statewide vote to keep the confederate part of the Mississippi flag I remember being so pissed off about people wanting to mess with out heritage and all that ********. The vote proved that no one wanted to evolve in this state. I think if you did that vote again you would see that the organisms in this state are ready to mutate. Unless we mutate and eat our competition then we will just continue to be algae for the larger species of our ecosystem to feed upon.

The problem I see with Juco recruiting is that you usually only get 1 to 1.5 good years out of them. The first year or half a year is spent with them still getting acclimated to the D-1 level in most instances.

It's possible to win by embracing the Juco system. I'm pretty sure Kansas State won that way for a while, but it's difficult to maintain.

carefully and frankly you've got to be a bit lucky. you can't take "too" many and figuring out the 'right' number is tricky and then of the ones you take, you better get production out of them quickly and at a very high level and that frankly takes both good evaluating and some dumb luck. taking a significant number of jucos may be the only way out of state's mess but it is a big gamble, IMO. problem is that IF msu ends up 1-11 or even 3-8,4-7, recruiting highschool talent in enough quantities to compete is going to be tough. and i see nothing to indicate that mullen is a particularly exceptional recruiter. not saying he's bad but he didn't add much to what croom already had committed last yr.

as many as 5 of those recruits Crooms had committed have stated they were going to sign elsewhere had Mullen not been hired

Question, do you think that had more to do with Croom's firing or Mullen's hiring?

Essentially, do you think if you had hired the OC from Oklahoma, Chris Petersen, or any other coach with a solid offensive reputation it would've been different for those commits, or do you think it was all Mullen that re-sold them on State?
