Meade four-star quarterback Raymond Cotton has decommitted from Auburn, his father Raymond Cotton, Sr. said Monday.</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

<font face="Consolas"> </font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Consolas">Cotton's decision came moments after he learned Auburn coach and his area recruiter James Willis was informed he would no longer be coaching on the Plains.</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

<font face="Consolas"> </font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Consolas">Auburn hired Gene Chizik Saturday to replace Tommy Tuberville. Willis and the other Tiger assistants who had stayed on to help the Tigers recruit during the search were informed to look for new jobs Sunday night.</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

<font face="Consolas"> </font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Consolas">"I just talked to James Willis and he was let go," said Cotton, Sr. "Coach Willis got let go and Raymond had built a good relationship with him and all of the guys that were down there. None of those guys are there anymore. He's going to look elsewhere."</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

Everyone Raymond had built a relationship with Auburn was let go," said Cotton, Sr. "He's now going to take his commitment elsewhere."</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

Coach Chizik wanted to come up and speak with Ray, but I let them know he was decommitting from Auburn today."</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

<font face="Consolas"> </font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Consolas">Cotton, Sr. told AuburnSports.com Sunday that he nor his son were impressed with the Chizik hire. Chizik was hired away from Iowa State by Auburn after posting a 5-19 record over the last two seasons.</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

<font face="Consolas"> </font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Consolas">"I know about Chizik's good background with Auburn, but I look at Auburn as being on the same level with the Floridas and Georgias, a top 10 school in the country. It's a big-time program," said Cotton, Sr. Monday. "And then we go out and hire a guy that has five wins over the last couple of years.</font></p> <p class="MsoPlainText" style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt"></p>

I don't know if there is a lot of confidence there from me as a father. that Cotton is the only highschool qb that he has ever seen throw into the stands. He thinks he is way overrated.

It looks like Ole Miss is going to benefit from the AU debacle more than anyone. They picked up a nice RB commit, 3 star Rodney Scott. They should be able to take David Conner now that he has decommitted. And they might land Cotten as well. Those 3 guys should really boost their class ranking.

he's a three star on one service, but the #5 rb in the country and four on the other. I obviously haven't seen him play, but I know he is one of our top recruits, regardless of ranking. His video is sick too, for what that's worth.

So yes, it has already helped us. Nutt thinks he has bigtime NFL potential.

Hey OP4,

The RB you got out of Texas last year. Can't recall name. think he redshirted. Is he still at RB or did they move him to DB? Kinda surprises me that OM is still taking RB's with Davis and Bolden just freshmen, along with the one mentioned from Tx, if he's still at RB.

The TX RB is Devin Thomas. He played some at the beginning of the year, and Nutt has said he wished they had redshirted him.

Yes we have a lot of RBs though with him, Bolden, and Enrique Davis.

I think we have 5 or so on our commit list right now, but from what I hear only 2 of them will actually play RB. The others are being recruited as corners or LBs.

I'm pretty sure Scott is being recruited as a RB.

that he will be a DB and KR guy, who will be used in the direct snap formations from time to time.

I cannot believe that Rosebowl would say such a mean thing about one of our potential signees. Did he say this when the kid was going to Auburn or did he just come to this realization? Was this before or after you guys offered? I can't believe that Rosebowl would go all the way to Maryland to scout this guy. That is some kind of dedication.

Yancy is always so polite about all of you guys recruits. Rosebowl should be ashamed.

He may have posted it again, but he said the same thing a long time ago after he attended the QB camp that Cotten was at.

was after he decommitted from Auburn. But, I havent seen any video or anything. Just telling what Steve said.
