A stretch limousine still makes a big impression. Just ask the <font color="#225FB2">Auburn</font> football program, which used one Monday to reassert the Tigers' recruiting presence in its home state.</p>

On Monday, the Mobile (Ala.) Press-Register reported, seven Auburn assistant coaches permitted by the NCAA to make recruiting visits piled into a limo decorated with Auburn decals and flags and headed south to Mobile, an important in-state recruiting ground for the Tigers.</p>

The coaches visited a number of high schools in the Gulf Coast city, which is expected to produce a number of prospects for the recruiting class of 2010. Similar visits in other Alabama communities are expected to take place this week, according to the report.</p>

"The importance of the state of Alabama to us will be very evident starting next week," Auburn coach Gene Chizik said Monday, according to the report. "One of our goals is to fight and get Mobile back. Mobile is paramount to Auburn football."</p>

The limo created a buzz in Mobile, Bobby Parish, the coach at Williamson High School, told the Press-Register. "Everybody wanted to know who was in the Auburn limo," he said.</p>

"I think it makes a statement that they want to come back and heavily recruit Mobile," Parish said, according to the report. "Oh man, I think it was great. Usually only one coach comes, but the offensive coordinator and the defensive coordinator came. I think it was great for them to come by."</p>

Davidson High School coach Fred Riley said the Auburn contingent arrived at his school at lunch and stayed through the school's varsity athletics period, according to the report.</p>

"Auburn owned Mobile for a long time. Alabama's had a couple of really good years in Mobile," Riley said, according to the newspaper. "I think it was a message that Mobile's a battleground, and we're all here to stake our claim."</p>

Is there any proof that Scaldedbanditreb didn't write that? I guess the low level of profanity and lack of asswhoopin' threats is proof enough.</p>

In B'ham on business today, I was able to listen to his show on WJOX and he was going off. Him and all the Bama homers were just jealous because Auburn thought of it first. I have never heard such jealous type of comments about Auburn like I have heard everytime I listen to his show. If an Auburn fan calls in, he's labled by callers following him as: " That dumbass redneck Larry from Oneonta " ! or something to that effect. To me, Bama fans are a heck of alot more redneck than Auburn fans. Finebaum never has anything good to say about Auburn and he thinks Nick Saben is the 2nd coming of Christ. He said today that Bama will win the BCS Championship next year. I hope they don't because of the way the Bama fans refer to Auburn as " Cow College" . HMMM! Sound familiar? I think the Bama fans are still smarting over the 6 game winning streak in the Iron Bowl. Everywhere you go in B'ham, you see billboards with a former player for Bama advertising a business. The craziness over a college football team is unreal!

and i work with a few...the ones that are actual "graduates" of UA are alright that i have met.....its there walk-on fans that went to somewhere like Birmingham Southern, Stillman, UAB, Samford, or no college at all that really are obnoxious......you cant even talk with these people about the sport.....you give these dubmasses a counterpoint on a topic that stumps them and all they can come up with is: How many National Titles does State have......or does state have 12 national titles?
