Malzahn was the OC for Nutt in 2006 when the "Wildcat" got put into use. The fact it's called the "Wildcat" tells you it was started by someone else. Hugh Wyatt gets the credit for the name. He was a high school coach for La Center Wildcats and Wyatt's Wildcat offense become popular in high school first before Nutt deployed it at Arkansas. It has roots all the way back to 1930. Houston Nutt just made it popular because he had Darren McFadden and Felix Jones. thanks Wikipedia

He actually came up with the "Wildcat" formation with McFadden if I'm not mistaken. And he made Arkansas' offense look purty fine. He had some great talent with there and at Auburn, but who doesn't with a good team?

Jackie says Malzahn didn't come up with jack, he watched Brian Billick and the Vikes run all over people with it.

I don't think that he is gone this weekend. I think Auburn is hoping to get in enough trouble with the NCAA so that they can fire Chizik without having to pay his buyout, but not so much that they will be on a bowl ban.

If that is the outcome, it is far more appealing than having to buy him out right now at 7.5 million.[/QUOT
