Austin Seibert

Still had to look up the kids name, but the true freshman OU kicker/punter Austin Seibert was clutch on Saturday. Maybe an unsung hero as a true freshman.

Had 8 punts for average of 43.4 yards, and some of those near in from end zone area.

Made the 1 field goal, then 4 extra points; which, in that situation, are no give me.

Great job, Austin Seibert!

This kid is clutch so far. Huge game to kick in last Saturday and he stepped up bigtime. This kid will break all the kicking records at OU before he is done.

Yep, that rookie is going to pull our fannies out of the fire more than once this year.

Late last week I started a thread about Austin and the gist of OP was that I felt like he would be a key ingredient in our game with UT in that he would keep the Vols pinned deep in their own territory. Well, I was wrong and the reason was that our offense kept making him punt from inside OU's own 20 for most of the game. I had envisioned Seibert kicking from OU's 40 most of the time. And, I also predicted that he would kick 3 FGs, which I still believe he would have had we ever been in FG range. I didn't post it but I really thought he had a chance to score 12 points of OU's 30 (3 point after kicks and 3 FGs) in a 30-21 OU win. So enough of that stuff. I'm not very good at forecasting scores or performances, but Austin Seibert is very good at handling the FG and punting for the Sooners. And he will be with us for 4 years most likely, which is a plus.

I liked Stoops comment today about him...he is very confident...but not arrogant confident. As a kicker I think you need to have a bit of swagger. He is a true freshman that was the #1 kicker coming out of HS last year.

No, he didn't get any breaks at all.
Hell, there was one time we were hockeying it up so bad on offense, I wanted them to sneak him into the backfield and quick kick it on third down! Geez...
