Still will be hard to move Texas off their no expansion tone...it gives hope for Cincinnati, Memphis, Colorado State, BYU, UCF & UConn as Big XII Hopefuls.

Longhorn network could present a problem.

Texas has controlled or tried to control the Big12 from the start, they were a big reason for the old southwestern conference falling apart. You are correct about the Longhorn network being a big hurdle, would be appropriate if the expansion of the Big12 didn't include Texas. They would have to scramble to find a conference with that big anchor around their neck. Won't happen like that, but it would be amusing to me.

The thing is Texas can literally pick any conference they want that includes the SEC...They along with Notre Dame have that ability-(due to the fact they print $$$$ in Austin).

Texas get $15 Million a year stand alone from ESPN for the Longhorn Network until 2030...no way they are giving that up especially with the $23 Million from the Big XII Tier 1 & 2 from ESPN/Fox

That's true in part but the biggest factor in the SWC collapse was the death penality at SMU which is why it hasn't been seen since and is never likely to be seen again.

They can't with that Longhorn Network deal. If it wasn't for that I would agree with you. But unless they can void/cancel that thing other conferences can't accept them with their conference network contracts.
