Two B1G teams owning the top 2 places in the polls? This B1G bias is showing early and often! We are not even into the 5th week of the season and the B1G has 2 of the playoff spots already? Seriously? WTF?

I am going to get hammered for this, but Michigan State has not looked like a #2 team. They are dinged up too. The game in 2 weeks is winnable. [banana]

SEC is really short for Southern Everhyped Conference. Just look at the pre-season polls each fall.

Go to an 8 team playoff and most of the crap about best conference and strength of schedule goes by bye.
All 5 P5 champs get an automatic berth, and the remaining 3 go to at larges among the rest of P5 and G5.

LOL Blitz! Seriously, the B1G owns 50% of the playoff spots and the SEC is on the outside, looking in.
Really B1G, get out of your comfort zone and come down South and play the SEC in the hot weather! Don't stay where the livin' is easy! Y'all afraid to travel down South? Seriously?

I think the SEC could give you a decent game. Maybe 2 or 3 programs anyway. What are you afraid of? We want our shot at you!

B1G was over-hyped for a decade but its rebounding for sure. Meyer brought his southern cookin to the Rust Belt.

And to think you were among those that said CFB should wait until week 5 before putting out top 25 polls :)

Ohio St and Mich St are both legit top 5 teams and both won't make the playoff. There is a significant gap between them and the rest of the conference. Wisconsin, Iowa, NW and Michigan look like they have solid teams.

It is that pre-season ESPN bias towards the B1G once again coming to the surface!
Michigan State is over hyped, so is Ohio State. Both looked sloppy last weekend. But not to worry, either one loses 1 or 2 games they will still be ranked in the top 4. Who else could take their place? It's a cakewalk into the playoffs!

Big Ten bias? Southern have you been drinking....more than normal today :)
This time last year they were absolutely destroying the Big Ten.

The SEC is sh•t top to bottom. With the deepest recruiting ground, you would think they would have better teams. Over priced coaches.

Just a loud mouth fan base with nothing better to spend their money on.

After seeing Oregon get blown out by Utah the michigan state victory over them doesn't look so good.

I think the SEC is over hyped. Missouri just barely beat Connecticut by 2 points last weekend and yesterday they looked terrible vs. Kentucky. Their QB kept throwing the ball about 40 yards downfield into double coverage all night long. If he threw just 10-15 yard passes his team could have easily won the game. At least the SEC doesn't have 8 teams ranked any more. I think 5 is about realistic. Arkansas has also come back to earth. Tennessee and Florida don't look like anything special and South Carolina is pretty bad now too.

LOL. You do realize how much fun I am having giving y'all **** about the B1G being ranked 1 and 2?

It 's the same/ similar grief, albeit on much smaller scale, that y'all give me every August.

4 16 team conferences. The 4 winners make the playoffs everyone else goes to their bows. Don't expand it.

We'll do that as soon as you come north and play us in November or better yet in a January bowl game in some place like Yankee stadium. I would love to see those southern kids play in 0 degree weather.

Or those Yankee kids playing in the South when on field temps are hitting 120 degrees.

Did you watch Arkansas best LSU last Thanksgiving when the temperature was below 32 degrees in a misty sleet?

SG, it gets hot up here too. I'll actually give Arky and LSU credit for playing OOC games north of North Carolina over the past few years...everyone else in the SEC seems to think that an OOC series is one game at their place and one game at either the Georgia Dome or Cowboys Stadium.

In regards to the playoff, I think within the next 15 or so years it will go to 8 teams, with the P5 champs, highest-ranked G5 champ and 2 at-larges.

And I will not disagree with you my friend! I hope that it goes to 8 teams. And I like the way you added the Group of 5 champs and 2 at large teams.

Arkansas does not mind traveling North. But you need to understand the economics/ business side of athletics. We pocket over $1,000,000 every time we have a home game. That's why Arkansas will STOP playing in Little Rock after 2018. It costs the Administration to play in Little Rock versus playing in Fayetteville..

Home and home games with quality opponents are the way to go in the future. It benefits ALL of us!

SG- point well-taken with the economics of it all. IMO it definitely needs to be part of the decision-making process (you guys have a palace on-campus; while the tradition of the LR game is cool, it's basically not much different than bama playing at outdated Legion Field and we all know what happened there), but it can't drive everything (and CFB is making more than enough money for P5 schools to be able to schedule reasonable home and homes without having to always gimmick it up with neutral sites, etc).

...with the playoff I really think that's what will happen eventually, with it possibly even going to 12 teams (dont see it going beyond that, if it even gets that far). IMO you have to include the G5 in it because I think it's the right thing to do. I'm not a fan of a formal separation between the P5 and G5 that many seem to favor.

I don't know why people keep insisting on this. The Big Ten traditionally plays its OOC games at the beginning of the year. They rarely schedule OOC games in November. That would be sort of a hindrance to your plan.

Joe P,

I still think 8 teams is the optimal number. 5 champs of the P 5 and 2 at large from wherever as well as a G 5 representative.

That typically will mean in various years that the Pac 10, or B1G, or SEC gets 2 in to the playoffs. I would be happy with any scenario involving 8 teams!

I would hope that the committee wouldn't put 2 teams from the same conference in the playoffs. In the case of the B1G, ESPN wouldn't breathlessly lobby for that the way they lobbied for multiple SEC teams for the playoff last year.

I disagree. It should be the 5 P5 champs and 3 at-larges going to the highest ranked teams left. If any of the G5 teams are unbeaten, they'd be one of those highest ranked teams provided their SOS is descent.

[Mizzou's] QB kept throwing the ball about 40 yards downfield into double coverage all night long. If he threw just 10-15 yard passes his team could have easily won the game.

Don't say that too loudly. Throwing 40 yards downfield is apparently the key to winning games and you're not going to get it done just throwing 10-15 yard passes.
