Who wins the homerun derby tonight? Newcomers Bryce Harper, Chris Davis, or Pedro Alvarez, or do you go with long time sluggers Prince Fielder or Robinson Cano? I'm partial to the long-time sluggers and will go with Fielder... just because I can. I don't expect any distance records to be shattered tonight considering Citi Field is at sea level and in a fairly humid environment, but it should still be good.

Also, my TV will be on Mute. Can't stand Chris Berman.

I'll be pulling for Bryce Harper, but I agree, Prince Fielder is the likely choice.

Gut tells me Fielder or Davis, but I'll be rooting for Harper and Alvarez.

Cespedes could be a dark horse contender. Or he might not hit a single homer.

Harper is a great player, but he shouldn't be there.

Harper stats:

.264 13 hr's 29 rbi's 201 ab's

Gattis stats:

.246 14 hr's 37 rbi's 167 ab's

Of course, I'm biased

Note -- not saying gattis should be there. Just showing harpers stats aren't impressive

I dislike the Yankees wholeheartedly but since this is a hitting competition I'm going with the best swing in baseball and Robinson Cano.

I would like to see Davis do well and I would like to see prince fail miserably.

I really don't watch a lot of American League baseball, but from what I've seen cano is great. If I could pick any player to bat with game on the line, I choose cano

I will be pulling for Chris Davis

He would be playing for the Texas Rangers if not for ex Bulldog Mitch Moreland. Two very good players on a roster not big enough for both. Moreland was a slightly better player two years ago and Davis was too good to sit on the bench or play AAA ball. East Texas native Chris Davis handled the trade away from his favorite childhood team and World Series contender like a pro and now has simply blown up as an Oriole playing for ex Bulldog Coach Showalter. Just a neat story all the way around.

I have to go with Alvarez. I think he can get into a groove as well as anyone and he seems to be seeing the ball well.....when his eyes are open. He is also likely to miss a couple pitches.

Righties never win so by to Cespedes, Cuddyer, Wright. Bryce won't win and neither will Alvarez so this battle is between 3 AL Players in Davis, Fielder and Cano. Chris Davis wins this year.

Sigh. I wish someone would shoot that guy.

Not really, but I wish people would stop convincing themselves he's marketable in order to keep my eardrums from being assaulted by the runny feces he calls music.

Lyrical genius if you ask me.
