My 12 points from the weekend that was:

1. Anytime you win by double digits on the road in the SEC, its awesome. Croom did it as many times as Mullen has.
2. Good job defense. Yes, it was Vandy, but you pitched a shutout in my book, Robert Elliott gave up the three points.
3. The Vandy douche that told the hot MSU chick she was Mississippi white trash - Go 17 yourself.
4. We're a quarterback away from being a contender next year in a down West. Come on down Cam Newton.
5. 2-1 for the third time this decade, It feels good. Croom was 3-1 in '07 and Sherill was 3-1 in '00. Mullen has a chance to equal that.
6. If the weather cooperates, LSU will be the largest crowd in MSU history. If we play our A game, we can beat those corndog bastards and turn a 4-8 season into a chance to go to Shreveport. Other possible wins are, in order .. MTSU, Kentucky, Houston, Arkansas.
7. USC's reign in the Pac 10 is coming to an end. I think they lose three more in conference play and possibly to Notre Dame.
8. Alabama is the team to beat in the SEC West. The SEC Championship game will be 12-0 vs. 12-0, #1 vs. #2. Next season things start to turn in the SEC.
9. I still think Georgia Tech rapes us. We don't have the speed that the U has.
10. <17 > BYU.
11. Boise State is in position to wreak havoc in the BCS. #8 this early in the season, with three teams guaranteed to lose. If they take care of business, they will need only a Penn State, Texas, and Cal loss along the way to be at least #2 at seasons end. Not saying its going to happen, but just throwing it out there.
12. Ole Miss will take care of South Carolina with relative ease Thursday night. For USC to win, Ole Miss will have to beat themselves.

wanted to see how 2-1 translated for us. We were also 2-1 in 1997, 1996, 1995, 1993, 1990, and 1989 and finished with a losing record with the exception of 1997. So not the trend I was hoping to see.

Only point I'll argue is #7. USC is a quarterback away from being the PAC-10 champion. This season they may have a slight down year but they will be fine the next year and the next

I'm not so sure that the West will be down. Auburn will be looking for another QB, but they'll still be explosive as long as Malzahn is there. Mallet and McElroy will return and Russell Shepard will probably take over at LSU. Still some pretty good QBs and explosive offenses in the West to contend with. Not to mention all the backs that Bama will trot out there, they are very young.

I hate USC with a passion, but I think everyone is forgetting they were playing without Barkley, their starting QB. I don't think he's anything special right now, but judging from this weekend, he's lots better than Corp. I don't know how good they really are, but they're definitely a different team without Barkley. I think Cal is gonna give them a good run for the Pac-10, but I've seen people claiming USC will lose 3-4 this year and that's just crazy. Other than Cal and maybe Oregon, there's no real challenger to USC in that conference.

Cal looks real tough. They showed how explosive they are against Minnesota on the ground until they lolly gagged for a couple of quarters. That running game is going to be real hard to stop for a lot of teams in the Pac-10. Oregon is good but definitely beatable and we have already seen that (and still continue to amaze me on how each week they can find a nastier jersey then they one from the previous week) . USC from top to bottom is still loaded with talent all they lack is a quarterback and Barkley being a freshman is the only downside for him since he lacks the experience. He is definitely their best quarterback and it doesn't look like it will take him long to be comfortable playing there.
I think California is the biggest threat left on USC's schedule but besides them they shouldn't struggle anymore liek they did against Washington.

But #4 has to be one of the wooliest comments I have ever read. Alabama should be ridiculous next year and Arkansas will return a ton of their offensive talent. If Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU are West "contenders" this year, I am not trying to be a dick, but there is no way yall's talent level next year will be anywhere near those teams, especially on DL and OL.

BTW, I don't think OM will be a contender next year.

There is no chance in hell that an 11:21 a.m. kickoff on bash weekend sets any kind of records...I dont care if it is a 75-degree sunshine day and they are giving away TVs

Students will drink Friday night and sleep well past kickoff...unfortunate, but that is MSU
