...the university of ole miss has the potential to be a nice little liberal arts college.
It is apparent from the past two seasons the Bears can no longer compete in major college sports.Much like the Ivy League and the Military academies, UOM has seen its better days athletically.<div>
</div><div>I think a move to either C-USA or the Sun Belt would be acceptable. In C-USA, you have two ready-made rivals in Memphis and USM, and you might even have an outside chance at going to the Conference Championship. If you move to the Sun Belt, the Arkansas State game could be a blood-feud much like what you had against Tommy Tuberville and Auburn after Tuberville fled Oxford.</div><div>
</div><div>For the University of ole miss, the best move would be to drop to Division II, compete in the Gulf South Conference, and try to restore your shattered academic reputation. Delta State has been lacking a natural rival since MC dropped to Division III, and "The Battle for the North Mississippi Delta" would inflame passions on both sides. Not only that, but UOM could finally compete for a REAL National Championship like the one Delta State has.</div><div>
</div><div>My biggest problem with the University of ole miss is that you peel just enough role players away from The Mississippi State University that you hinder our chances to beat the Alabamas and LSU's of the world. Those extra players would provide the needed depth we need to be a perennial Top Five team and National Championship contender. For now, we can only expect to contend for Conference and National Championships every 3 or 4 years or so.</div><div>
</div><div>I really enjoy visiting Oxford and its lovely environs. It's like getting into a 150 year old time capsule.</div>
