What other former bulldog basketball players deserve this honor? Let's say there is a five year grace period before they can have their jersey hung from the rafters.
I'll say Malone and Super D.

I played for him. I loved him to death, but he wouldn't hesitate to let you know about his records. Adolph Rupp kept in touch with him for a while after his playing days.HamilReb said:Led the NCAA in free throw % at one time. I think...
Never promoted MSU? Every time he got press, the MSU name rode along. And he only got good press.Dog in the Know said:This was just a bump in the road for him. He never acted like he was glad to be here. He never promoted MSU in any way. Good player for MSU but not the athlete I think should have his jersey retired.
I don't think there is anything specifically dedicated to student-athletes, but the school does plant a tree for each student/faculty member that passes while enrolled/teaching at State. They also place a plaque at the base of the tree with the person's name on it.Barksaholic said:obviously there could be exceptions, a la keifer. which i guess brings up another question: is there anything on campus (plaque, memorial, etc) for student athletes that passed while on campus?
Here's where we differ. I don't mind recognizing players and their numbers-- having them as maybe a part of a Ring/Wall of Honor. To give an example, I've got Rodney Stowers' #97 sticker on a cowbell, and I think he and Keffer McGee would be good choices for a Football Wall of Honor.8Dog said:to me that's the neat part of retiring/recognizing (I really don't care what they call it) numbers. There are certain players that are a huge part of schools' traditions that may not be nationally known. Darryl Wilson is a prime example. The Unforgettables at KY that have their jersey retired.
I think its great to recognize your own tradition.
