Auburn always has that one guy on their team that is a cancer and prevents them from going as far as they could have. Last couple years it was that chubby little guard, KD Johnson. This year it was Baker-Mazzara.
Florida was the hotter team by far, can’t hate on a final 4. Not like he derailed them in the first round or something.

I’ve never heard of a buyout in this landscape, I bet that wouldn’t hold up in court and nobody would play for Auburn in the future if that was the case until it was widely enforceable.
Good call! That’s the key, no one knows if it would be enforceable.

There are other good options at the position and CBM may not be the No.1 option now that things have opened up. I can’t wait to see how it shakes out tho. Portal season is both fun and cruel.

I have a hard time believing if Pearl really wanted him next year they would have found a way to keep him.
Watched #54 back up Dan Issel as a junior high kid. I was always convinced he could have started at 3/4 of the SEC Schools back then. He always showed up over the years whenever his teammates got together over the years. He loved UK. I was sad to hear when he passed not to long ago.

The whole plane incident that some keep mentioning . They mentioned who was involved and his name wasn’t mentioned .
I've not seen that posted anywhere but I do recall it being referred to as an internal matter or something to that effect...which seems a likely way of handling something like that. I looked...gotta link? Either way, do you really believe in your gut that he fits what we've seen and heard from Pope to date? I don't. I get playing with fire and a competitive spirit but that's just not what I've seen. I see a guy that's about himself, mouthy, selfish, has a record of playing dirty and falls down every game and miraculously comes back in like nothing happened....like all the time! So, add drama queen to the rest. Lol!

Bottom line, if a player with near his ability becomes available(Sarr), why even risk it with a player that has known red flags smoking from his ears? It seems that the board is pretty equally split and strongly, either way. So, again, why risk it with a guy that has clear signs(to half of us) of a potential problem(s)...if a different option offers similar upside but is less of a risk?

NM, I found where two players were named a couple of weeks ago. Doesn't change the fact that their team faultered down the stretch. Mid conf season, they were the BEST team in the country but they regressed for one reason or another. Go watch the first AU Ole Miss game for reference. They were on top of the world to that point.

Pope knows these players better than we do…and we already know fit matters to him. I think fans assuming we have a better handle on what Pope can work together than he does is probably not accurate. Let’s wait it out and see.

Nice guys finish last. This is Kentucky we aren’t playing for sportsmanship awards. I’m all in on Pope but idc what anybody says … we were charmin soft this year. Give me a couple “thugs”. Everyone loved when Boogie elbowed the Louisville player, call me at Mississippi state , or Ramel Bradley standing up to Adam Morrison at Gonzaga…. Give me players with attitude. I want the players we hate when on other teams. Pope will get us back on the mountain top.

That’s the only thing I have seen when it came to mentioning the players involved. I get the concerns as far as his antics on the court . I just don’t agree with people calling him a bad lockerroom guy . It doesn’t seem like his teammates dislike him . You definitely would have to worry about him committing a hard foul in a key moment.

You are right and it seems his teammates freaking love the guy. As in the kind of guy that has an entire team feeling like a complete unit and brotherhood, a player that wears his heart on his sleeve and won’t tolerate anyone snapping at one of his. That kind of player is exactly what Pope loves.

Agreed . I mean Pope definitely cares about a player fitting on the roster . If he fills like Baker-Mazara is a good fit then he would know better than any of us on the board .

There are a couple absolute game changers in the portal now. IMHO you either go get one of them or be in the tier behind.
yeah. some people said they wanted a liggins-type player to defend, slash and facilitate. well there he is. although he’s probably not as mentally tough, and comes with antics, and a big price tag. he’s not a program changer, but he is imo, a game changer.

Possibly wherever he goes has gotta pay Auburn back some money they've already given him towards next season..

How much can we even believe from Pilgrim and JP? Probably not a lot, they’re trying to sell let’s not forget.
For sure, just thought I’d post what was said. If it’s true they have been on him this long, I’d take that as a good sign he’s finally entered. I’m still not sold on him leaving and just not negotiating a better deal but he could see Auburn is gonna be down a little and sees UK will be pretty good.
