Is gonna be 26 playing college basketball next year

I have been ridiculed in the "Kerr Returning" thread for saying that players who are playing college basketball at the age of 25+ make a mockery of the sport and have no business playing college basketball.

Apparently a big portion of our fanbase is cool with it, judging by their responses.

It's an absolute joke, and so are the 25-26 year old players who are still playing college basketball.

I don’t care if someone is 60 if they have eligibility and can play

I'm sure Pearl would love to have him come back. I don't know if we will go in the second round or not, or if thinking that's where he would be drafted most likely, if he would rather come back for Pearl maybe he thinks he could become a first round pick ... by next year.

I wouldn't bet on that, considering everything, I don't see him coming back to Auburn again after this year. I'd say he goes ahead and goes to the NBA, if he is ever going to go. And it sure doesn't hurt that Pearl puts some spin out there for him to potentially come back for him. Either way, it's a win win for them both. Pearl can get another guy to the NBA, or he gets an experienced returner. But that's just my own thoughts.

It's one reason I liked the positive comments about Garrison from Coach Pope. I'd love to see Garrison and Oweh both come back. We need them. Looking for senior leadership, we got it right there coming back, potentially. It would make a light year difference in moving forward for the program, and more positive moves and and strides are made elsewhere, if we can get them both back. we're in good shape.

Gonna be some more epic games with Auburn in the future for sure.

If the person served in the military and is now trying to play im cool with it. But 25 year olds in college sports is little crazy

It’s not the end of the world or anything but at some point it does get a little crazy for 25 & 26 year olds to be playing college sports with 18-19 year olds

Could mid-level Euro players make more money playing in the NCAA? Teams could just start paying for a few years of pro players that have NCAA eligibility. Louisville has that 22 year old "freshman" coming in next year that's been playing professionally in Germany.

You should be ridiculed. There is no age limit to college athletics. There basically never has been. If you're in school and you're 35 and you have eligibility left, then you always could play.

Life isn't fair, but age isn't an issue.

Have we ever had a player with half his skill set not go pro at the first sniff of NBA $$$$??
6'7 guard averaging 13 points a game/shooting 40 percent from 3 in the best league in America and he's coming back??? WTF
NIL, NIL, NIL, NIL. Simple answer and sometimes a kid may want an extra graduate degree for his future.

It's whatever at this point, just need to adapt the roster construction knowing this. Hopefully they'll just allow direct from high school to the NBA so HS recruiting can focus on guys who have a higher chance to be retained.

No doubt. No point letting this kind of **** eat you up. It’s out of control. I’m just going to enjoy the ride and check out when it’s not fun. Complaining about how it’s changed will accomplish jack **** now that they’ve allowed money in the mix.

Seems to be boiling down to state contract law and varying degrees of gambling industry influence more than ever so the age limits would seem to be on a collision course with extinction right?

As long as a person shows academic eligibility?

And it COULD become a situation where players are full time university employees and not students at all -- thats been proposed & resisted recently anyway

^ rhetorical questions i know - were ALL figuring this out and waiting to see where it lands

PS : I like Auburn basketball being good but Pearl with his reputation gets too much of a pass media wise

That and chandler doing the Mormon mission..

It looks like the auburn kid has only missed one season, so it isn’t like he’s a 7th year senior. He’s completing 4 seasons in 5 years like it used to be.

Both Baker Mazara and Krissa will have sat out a full year for injuries. They both still get the free Covid year.

They also just happen to be old for their class, likely due to being foreigners.

There’s nothing wrong with guys being older if they are only taking 4 years (5 with the covid year) to actually play.

What does age have to do with it if they only get the same amount of years to play as anyone else?

He came from the Dominican so he most likely got a late start.
