It occurs to me looking at the SEC Championship Game tiebreakers that if we had in fact beaten some combination of Tennessee, Florida, and/or Texas, our conference record would have been enough to push OM into Atlanta via the "conference opponents' records" tiebreaker that came into play.

Considering that those losses still burn, the fact that it meant we are still the only MS team to have appeared in the SECCG is at least an interesting outcome of the stinging.
