Such a crazy game they play when recruiting. I wonder how different our approach is if we were to look at similar data.

Read this article and then ask yourself again "why did bama look so ****** against Oklahoma?" The reason is in the article. If saban ain't playing for crystal he say f*ck it and goes recruiting.

I thought it was funny that he said he spent some of his plane time watching film on Oklahoma.

Honestly, not a terrible strategy. Bama gets bumpkis from winning the Sugar Bowl. No difference to them and their fanbase between finishing 3rd or 10th.

Saban is whiny little ***** if he doesn't get everything his way. I would love to see him have to coach at a place like Miami (OH) for about 6 years. He would be a real miserable bastard. I could see the windows in his office completely covered in dark Victorian drapes with gothic Italian organ music playing on an archaic speaker horn. He grows his sideburns and starts wearing a dark chesterfield coat with the collar up..smoke from incense billowing around..

If you think Nick Saban recruited any differently in the years he was playing for the national title, you're crazy. The dead period starts only a week after the SEC title game anyway. It's not like that week is the difference between trying to win a bowl game and saying 17 it, who cares if we win or lose. Bama lost to Oklahoma for the same reason they lost to Texas A&M last year (and almost again this year), and the same reason they lost to Auburn this year. Saban struggles to defend a good fast-paced spread offense. Why do you think he's been so publicly calling to change the rules to essentially outlaw them? Because they don't let him play defense the only way he really knows how to.

Wasn't aware the dead period applied to juniors and sophomores. The 14 class was essentially done by then. He was working on 15/16. Yeah, he hasn't figure out the HUNH yet.

The dead period doesn't apply to juniors and sophomores. Because you can't visit them to begin with. And yeah, by the results, Saban hasn't figured out the HUNH.
