I heard some things, but don't want to start rumors. Has nothing to do with the injury or any off field stuff, just about his future at UK.

Yeah, and there were a lot of unfounded rumors about Stoops on here recently.

Well what do you expect when I heard on good authority (on here, many times) he couldn't throw the ball 10 yards.
Funny how our fans on here forget all about this when they are beating themselves on the back saying they are the reason recruits like us so much. For all the good our fans do when times are good they are just as bad when it's not going their way. Hartline was one of the most abused player to ever wear the Kentucky uniform and some people act like it never happened.

When someone says I have heard a rumor about someone but am not gonna spread it,,you have spread it!
I never understood that. Is the person waiting for everyone to beg him to spill the information.

I went out with this gorgeous woman last nigh, I have pictures, but I am not showing you. Man she was beautiful. So attractive.

I think he's definitely taken his last snap for UK. I have zero info, but the level of hush surrounding his situation just screams to me it's over for him.
Part of the reason for the hush is that it is a federal crime to release medical information about anyone without their consent. If Drew wants to talk about it then someone can ask him, otherwise UK cannot talk about it. There is probably no other part of the body that is more random in it's ailments and healing than the back.

I am not begging for someone to ask me to spill it. I just have enough respect for people to not throw rumors out without solI'd evidence to support it. If you remember, that has happened already this season and it was uncalled for.

I am just fooling with you. I find it funny when someone says they know something juicy but won't say what it is. In my mind there is no reason to even say someone knows something.
I know I know nothing.

Whats funny is that you can completely make up a rumor about Wills telling stoops its 60-40 UK........ no one would have a problem with it because they would like that rumor. But tell a rumor you've heard that people dont like and BOOOOOOOOOO... its false... completely made up to hurt people etc etc etc.. When in fact a rumor is called a rumor and not fact for a reason.

With no one around UK wanting to talk about it........ just gives me the feeling he'll transfer.
there are a couple of posters, that are adamant he is gone.
If, If this happens...does the bar for 7 wins go down next season?

That could entirely be it. But just not the vibe I get. Not good that it's basically been hushed since day 1.

Great, so we are back to Johnson next year, who was never expected to be the starter, plus raw freshmen. You gotta love Kentucky football . . .

You know, next year just maybe the year that we play two QBs. Both have different talents and depending on field position could determine who is playing.

Interesting. What took anyone at UK so long to address it? But still no discussion of the actual injury that I saw
What kind of discussion do you want?
If it's skeletal or muscular? Upper or lower?
Does it matter? He's still with the team and involved in the ways he can be involved for the time being which tells me that he hopes to be able to get back out on the field at some point.

A general description of what's wrong. A timetable for return. You know, the things we get with all injuries?

The general description is that it is a back injury. There is no timetable for return which is very understandable for anyone who has had a back injury. Back heal when they heal and no two back injuries heal at the same rate.

There's a rumor floating around that alternating qbs would be a sure path to only winning five next year. That's a fact.

I think a reasonable person should assume there is somethinf amiss here....this has been as tight lipped as Andre Mcgee...obviously this is not a good relationship

And a redshirt Gunnar Hoak who came in the spring. So he'll be a "seasoned" redshirt freshman. And if it's Johnson then so be it. He's played decent and another set of bowl practices and spring practices will only help.

Also I'm pretty sure Clark and Wood will be January enrollees which will help some if they wind up being needed or if one of them explodes.

well, yes, he's played "decent" - but he's also pretty clearly limited. Props to the young man for taking advantage of the situation and doing as well as he can. But QB is the one spot you quickly point to that is holding this team - or at least, this offense - from taking the next step towards conference success. I don't know that Barker was the answer there, maybe he was limited in other ways. But I think it's safe to say that Johnson isn't a difference maker, which is what we need.

Political pollsters have weighed in on Barker issue. Polls are showing 60/40 that Barker never suits up again for U.K. (Poking a little fun at pollsters and not the candidates ;-)

You can say that but the UGA game was lost on a fumble and an interception, both of which were 100% on the WRs and not the QB.

I'll always believe he got screwed being kept out of the Bowl game... Team got screwed also.....
That situation still has a smell about it........... Should have been dealt with in a different way...

I don't have the slightest clue as to what the situation is with Barker. We are all but assured a bowl game with our back up QB. Everyone says that Johnson is extremely limited. I'm not so sure of that myself im not implying that he is Tom Brady. When he is actually given the opportunity to sling it around at the end of the half or games he has actually moved the ball pretty good through the air. He has also shown the ability to throw deep. With a full SEC season under his belt plus the extra game and practices due to a bowl. I would expect some more improvement on Johnson's part.

If Barker is truly done like a lot of fans seem to believe and possibly want. If the coaching staffs really not confident in Johnson's ability to get this team to the next level. With all of our other options being rather young and inexperienced. With all of the returning talent and experience Next season could be our best opportunity to get to the next level and potentially take recruiting up a notch. The biggest obstacle could be a true QB well and a top notch DLINE(that's a conversation for another time and forum).

So my question is this. If a game changing QB is all we need to make a true run at the SEC east. To up the ante and to actually play with and knock of the big boys. Will the coaching staff make a play at one of the graduate transfers? Would you want the coaches to take a one year rental in a graduate transfer if it gives us the best opportunity to win?

I heard from the parent of another player that Barker was injured in the first game and tried to tough it out against Florida.

depends on which GT we're talking about. A can't miss type yes, but if they are not a significant upgrade over what we have, then I would pass.

Stoops said in a Jen Smith interview that drew would have season ending back surgery after thanksgiving. No additional details. Expected to be back by late spring
