Also, it's about damn time that the media making such a big deal of 2 MSU "recruiters" reporting telephone converstions being a potential violation because we were supposedly using illegal recruiters since the story didn't say 2 MSU "coaches" to realize that at the time we did have 1 non-coach who was authorized to recruit (Greg Byrne). It's pretty obvious that the reason the story used the word "recruiters" is because the word "coaches" isn't accurate and if they'd said "1 coach and 1 non-coach recruiter" they'd have identified the source.

The backlash from reporting it makes it look likesour grapes or being "snitches". If we don't report it, then we face sanctions and look like absolute idiots.

Regardless though, I believe wholeheartedly that if we had outbid Auburn for Newton we would've been on probation faster than Cecil could've cashed the check.

It makes for better stories. I don't think anyone honestly expects MSU to report a specific conversation between Cam and someone at MSU that he wasn't supposed to be talking to, but "John Hevesy and, then AD, Greg Byrne" reads better than, "two MSU recruiters." Then everyone can point a finger to the specific snitch.

1. Do nothing. This is basically throwing in the towel and saying 17 it. We'll gladfully take our place in the cellar of the SEC and be the *****.

2. Don't report it and make an offer ourselves. This wouldn't work as the hammer would get dropped on us. There would be no waiting. He'd be declared ineligible at the beginning of the season.

3. Do exactly what we did. This is what the SEC asked us to do and follows almost perfectly the guidelines. It also says "we aren't going to take this **** anymore", but we didn't turn any school in. We reported what had happened. That in effect basically puts the pressure/blame on a particular school (in this case Auburn b/c they signed him), but it at least might help level the playing field.

Who's claiming AU bid on him? We didn't bid at all. Soooo your question is pretty much unanswerable. As far as the "snitches" issue: is one a snitch if they report an illegal occurrence? Bribing a cop/judge, breaking into a car, robbing someone? Oh wait, then one is a "hero". You need to keep the proper perspective on this situation. If we lose recruits over this, then so be it. We don't need people who think doing the right thing is wrong, do we? We've been there, lost that.

Hypocrisy at its finest. To me almost 90% of the reporting puts MSU in a bad light for reporting this. What were we supposed to do? "Just say- oh, okay. I understand Mr. Newton. Good luck."

It also pisses me off that people are demonizing MSU just because they don't have all the facts. "We don't have all the facts therefore MSU is a bunch of lying nobody's that are just mad because they don't have Cam Newton."

Joe Schapp has unbiasedly reported information. The rest have sucked, I guess because they just don't want this to be true.

wanna read something funny ... this is an e-mail an auburn guy sent me ... he jumped over here, got an account, and made one post trying to defend AU & slam state .... these guys want to blame us sooo bad......

get your head out of the sand .... in the 1950's AU went undefeated but couldn't play in the NC because they were on probation .... in the 1990's they went undefeated but AGAIN on probation .... do you really think you guys are clean on this ? "SCUM FROM MISS. TO BRING UP SOMETHING THAT HAPPENED 2 YEARS AGO" ..... is this fact ? You idiot, nobody cares about some academic cheating, I would say most of the athletes do, even the academic scholarship types probably cheat sometimes....I can't understand why you people insist on blaming MSU for your mistakes .... we were only following the rules which were laid down by the NCAA and the SEC ..... one day you guys will learn how to play by the rules and then we can engage in some civilized conversation, but until then....YOU WAIT FOR THE FACTS BEFORE JUMPING OVER HERE ON OUR BOARD TRYING TO SELL YOUR SOB STORY.....GO BAMA...btw, your post was locked to keep the masses from hurting your already hurting feelings

Must hurt that Cam wouldn't go to Mississippi State for $180,000 and went to Auburn for free. I was stating facts. It takes scum from Mississippi to bring up issues that happened 2 years ago. Academic records are sealed and its ILLEGAL to make them public. It will all come out in the wash. If Cam or Cecil took $$, then both Auburn and Cam need to be punished. As I am close to the Auburn program, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that they would play him if there was a chance he would be made inactive. Its also funny that I can't reply to the post when I'm the only one that has stated anything close to facts. I wish the Bulldogs a great season. BEAT BAMA!!!

said all these allegations were nothing but a "smear campaign" against the Heisman front runner (maybe he was just talking about the plagiarism stuff) now thinks we deserve our good citizenship merit badge? I don't buy it.

I really don't think we felt we had any choice but to play this as "by the book" as possible. NO WAY were we not going to report this.

other than John Bond being totally demonized, slandered etc for telling the truth is that if nothing comes from this, then they may just as well say 17 it. Let's all cheat like hell (at least more than now) because the SEC and NCAA isn't going to do a damn thing about it.

I believe they did but i'm going with innocent until proven guilty b/c thats the way it should be. I'd also want that for us.

My problem is the people talking down on us. We did exactly what we should have done.
