Stewart is best when he plays within his limits.
He had a brutal Junior season on the offensive end, mostly in the first few months of the season because he was trying to do things that are outside of his limits. Jamont was no longer on the team and we didnt have someone who could drive the lane and get a foul or finish. Stewart took over that role and never succeeded because its beyond his abilities. He stopped doing that as often and stuck to what works and was better for it.
This season he hasnt driven in nearly as often, which has helped his game and the team. He has an excellent midrange shot that he uses at times on drives, id guess thats a higher %make than getting to the rim for him.
His outside shooting has carried us a lot this season, and he isnt shooting them from 7' beyond the arc like so often last season.
Stewart's motor is like the Energizer Bunny. Never stops and that makes him a pest on defense. Constantly fighting thru screens wears on someone, but he works to not let it affect his overall game.
I do wish he could hit FTs consistently. A few years ago, he was the guy we used for Technical FTs. Now he hits ony 2/3 of his FTs.
Its nuts that he averaged 25mpg as a freshman. That says a lot about both his abilities as a player and the team's need for consistent players.
