Baseball Attendance

I got a gig in Birmingham this year (working on Saturdays until 4/15) so I havent been able to make any baseball games, but I have watched the majority from HailStateTv so far. Attendance looked overall above average-decent this weekend (compared to post 2007 years & forward), but I thought the first game against Samford looked really good. Wondering if anyone had any attendance #s on that game as it was definitely more than our season opener & season opener was in the 3,000s?

Also, general thoughts on attendance so far? & Have there been any new developments w/ the outfield (ex., the thread on what to do when holder comes out)?

Looking forward to getting back for Sat & Sunday Central Arky or LSU at the latest.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact this year is the first time in 12 years that MSU fans have felt like we have a consistent winning baseball program again. We've had a couple of flukey postseason runs during that time, but this is the first time we've had a legitimate contending baseball program since 2001.

agreed Patdog. Couple that w/ the ****** basketball perfomance, decent weather this past weekend, & a little bit of marketing (prob attributed to the fact that, like you said, we SHOULD be a consistent winner again) and we should see numbers continue to go up especially if/when we're competitive in SEC play. Very exciting.

We're going to see some very large crowds this year once the weather becomes more cooperative. I was amazed at the Friday night crowd in the rain. We stayed through the 4th, but got soaked and headed on out to watch it on Apple tv at the house.,

Agreed about the weather, it's been worse than recent February's and this weekend is looking to be frigid again.

It's good to see the energy back at DNF again. Not just one the field, but in the stands. The "roll call" is a pretty neat deal. Cohen was bragging on the fans last night on the post game show saying how much it means to the players to come and be into it.

Special thanks to all the old biddies who show up in the 2nd, make people move out of their cherished seats when there are plenty of others around, sit there with no emotion whatsoever, and then leave in the 7th.

Never in a million years would I normally choose baseball over basketball, but this is one season ticket holder who will be skipping our game with OM this weekend in order to take a seat at DNF.

No. Subtract 4,492 for the real number. Or whatever our grandstand seating is. Paid attendance.

Same with every other school, they all report paid attendance. You'll never know how many were really there unless you see a picture. At any rate, they were GREAT crowds for February in the cold.
