Man, we are struggling against Sacred Heart, losing 5-3 and they are running all over us. I think five steals now.

It will be time to get rid of Cohen.
I don't care how bad it was when Cohen got here (and it was real, real bad). If you can't win 10 SEC games by your 3rd season, you've got to go.

This BS strategy we play by is getting us beat. I am seriously doubting the hire now. I just can't believe that the guy can't get it done, but he's proving that he can't. We should be 16-0 right now.

of the SEC or we'll be looking for a new baseball coach." Then I'd say, "in year 5 we should be hosting a regional."

today. We didn't get a hit with RISP today. One was ball thrown into left after stealing third, a sac fly, and I think a wild pitch. 10-12 straight batters flew out to end the game, 3-4 innings. That's horrible, and does Brownlee do anything with a bat except suck with it in his hands? We suck, is it football season yet?

I honestly think Cohen may have taken over worse program when he took the MSU job than when he took the Kentucky job. To me, he's got to win 10-12 SEC games to make me want to give him another year.

We were facing Sacred Heart(whoever the hell that is) and on a Sunday and all we can do is get three runs. I watched the last two inning online and I got the pleasure of watching six fly ball outs in a row. What the hell was wrong with us?

..yet this same 13-4 team is going to win only 8 games in SEC play?

That's really makes sense.

Only MSU fans think you should go undefeated in baseball.

Last year, Sacred Heart would swept MSU in a 3 game series.

Once you people overcome your bout of old lady hysterics, you'll realize this.

Not to mention we're also behind in the 6th inning of a suspended game. Or that last year we were 12-6 going into our first SEC game against a much tougher schedule and then went 6-24 in the league. Right now, I think 8 SEC wins is very possible.

and we've already lost 4 and haven't even played USM and OM. And we would already have lost 5 games if we hadn't reached an agreement to ressume the UAB game.

Damn.

As much as I tried to get excited about coming into this year I never really could because, on paper, we had one of the most anemic looking lineups I can ever remember an MSU team having. Yea, we have some speed but you still need some guys to drive them in. And thank goodness CT Bradford is the real deal or it would even be worse. Then throw on top of that we had only one proven starting pitcher in Stratton and you've got trouble (never counted on Routt). We have actually gone beyond my expectations as far as quality starts with Devin Jones pitching well along with Stratton and our defense has been much improved from last year. Problem is though when you struggle to score runs against even the weakest of competition then you are still vulnerable to lose to ANYONE. No matter your pitching and defense, there will be games were that part doesn't just dominate so scoring only 4 or 5 runs per game, like we do, is going to put you into a LOT of losable game situations even when playing the little sisters of the poor.

Everyone keeps trying to give Cohen the Polk excuse. No one has mentioned that the players hate him. Literally every baseball player I'm friends with says the guy is the biggest *** they've ever met and instead of treating them like players with respect he just chews them out like dogs.

Is it Polk's fault for not having a single upperclassmen worth a damn? Yeah. But making your players hate you has a lot more with setting Mississippi State record lows than that, in my opinion.

I mean, I'm not saying I've never been cussed at by a coach, but I've just heard he takes it to a new extreme. I at least respected the guy cussing me.

I care if his players win. And so far, they've been losing more than any MSU baseball teams I can remember. Normally, I think a coach needs to get 4 years before you really judge him. But as much as Cohen's teams have been losing, unless this year turns out better than it looks right now, Cohen doesn't need to see that 4th year.

he played Cohen's first year. He loathes John Cohen. People can say who cares all they want, but at the end of the day if that style doesn't work, than it's up to the leader (a coach in this example) to change. There's a reason the Bobby Knight's of the world flamed out. College age kids are different now for better or worse.

And yes, he needs to go after this year. Especially after he bragged to people inside the dept when he was hired that he only needed two years "max" before he had us turned around.

We're going to be fine with Cohen. We seem to recruit well from the baseball states of GA, FL and TX so getting good caliber players shouldn't be a problem. Cohens style isn't for everyone so give him another year to get his players on board.
I think that we will be good this year and you've got to believe that the softer bats have to help our style.
