i usually just sit back and read you guys bitching and keep my mouth shut. But I thought some of you might find it interesting I saw our ""All American"" closer and some other players out at the bars Saturday around 1 o clock in morning. Yea we have a lot of problems right now on the team but it doesn't help when they are out all night. Half of the Football team were enjoying the cotton district as well. I didn't have a problem with that though, just went through spring let me have fun as long as they don't do anything stupid

Football players entertaining recruits too I'm sure. Yeah no problem there. However, the rock star status some of these baseball players received last year is reserved for just that..LAST YEAR. If it's true that they were out late Saturday night, Sunday am, I'm guessing Cohen has probably found out about it. And after Sundays showing, I'm guessing corrective measures will be put in place.

They were at Bin last year on Saturday night of the regional as well -- before the Sunday loss to Central Arkansas.

Every player is different though. While that certainly hurts some players -- it helps some to chill out that have gone mental as well. But it would ease everyone's minds if they waited and partied together Sunday nights like the rest of the teams in the SEC do -- or otherwise, performed better than terribly on Sunday in Baton Rouge...

Bring back the beards, the long hair and the Bin if it will help them win.

I want to know what happened to all these big recruits we supposedly got last year? I thought these guys were gonna fill in for Frazier and renfrow? I can't wait for next weekend to see what Cohen has changed

Not that I am condoning the activity, but by Saturday night, our "All American" closer was finished playing for the weekend.

I'm not that sure chugging back a few cold ones is the reason they stunk it up. I remember back in college we would get five kinds of hammered and by 11:00 the next morning we were fine and planning the next night. You forget how resilient you were back in college. If I tried that today I'd probably be laid up in bed the entire next day.

Back in the day, it was not unusual to see BJ Wallace or Ricky Joe Redd or some of the others out the night before a double header. We were so much better than everyone else that they could get shitfaced then show up and hammer other SEC teams (not named LSU that is).

Those days are gone. The talent is too even to put yourself at any kind of disadvantage. I don't care if they want to party the night before Alcorn State but dammit on the weekend where you are playing your biggest rival in front of record crowds they need to have some freaking focus.

Sunday we got outplayed for sure but we were half asleep and made stupid decisions all day long as if we were in a fog. I told my dad in the 4th inning that I figured the players went out and partied after the comeback on Saturday. Looks like I was right.

Our guys are going to have plenty of time to party in the post season while watching other teams play in regionals.

I was in the district on the steps in front of champs/gringos with several of the players. AD was right there with em. Not one of them was acting out/causing problems. They were just having a good time just like every other student there.

And I'm just gonna say Nick James is one large human being.

JRob and Nick Griffin are both ripped.

And as for Bernardrick McKinney, I wouldn't want to be a
receiver trying to catch a pass over the middle ! Dude is a monster.

Eta: Holder was with his gf and they didn't stick around long. Didn't see any other baseball players.

I was thinking the same damn thing when I looked at this via my phone. Consider this a plus 2. Also, Starkvegasdawg has a valid point. I listened in the truck on the way home Sunday afternoon, so I didn't see, but these guys are still college-aged players. They've earned the right to knock back a few, more so for the football players. However, staying out after the game until 1 am is different that 5 am, so it's all relative. I like that the "in tents" bastard was seething after the game and had plans for Monday hell.

Seems like I still remember Pete Young showing up, playing 3B and pitching, all while being hammered. Gone are those days.

In the early eighties had s class in McCool auditorium and sat next to a baseball player in a ten o'clock class who came in high with marijuana breath at least once a week. I wasn't into the dope scene and finally told him to quit breathing that s*** on me. He was a starter but not a star player.

I assure you every college in the nation has a group of players that goes on game nights.

They all play summer ball together. A lot of times the visiting team will get picked up at the hotel by the home team to go to the bar.

I assure you I know a little about how it works.

Summer ball /=/ Super Bulldog Weekend against your biggest rival who damn near cost you your hosting spot and swept your *** last year. You can justify however -- but it's very bad form for the "faces" of our baseball program to be out partying during one of the biggest series of the year, when they've just lost 4 of the last 5 against our two biggest rivals, only to make it 5 of 6 the next day in an embarrassing shitshow. Do I give a 17 if Rooker, Ingram, the Canadians, etc are out partying? No. I don't even care if the team is as long as it is within reason and they continue performing well -- but they have to know it's got potential to grab some negative pub when starters are seen out by a bunch of people and then those players continue playing like **** the next day and looking like they don't care...

I'm not saying it's right, but you said no one in the SEC goes out and parties on game nights besides us.

And that just isn't the case.

Seems like putting the scholarship athletes back into an athletic dorm would solve those problems, at least for home games. And the coaches already have control over them on road games since they all stay in the same hotels.

I didn't say that "no one in the SEC goes out and parties on game nights besides us" -- nor did I mean to imply that. I was simply pointing out that the "accepted norm" for SEC baseball players is Sunday night parties after the series ends -- and often bars(that "can") will open for them -- and naturally the girls that are within a couple degrees of contact with the baseball team are going to show up. I was saying that I greatly prefer that approach -- to seeing them out shitfaced on Saturday night well past a normal curfew -- and then watching them lay an egg against our rival the next day.
