A few more released today. Baseball America has us a No. 8, Perfect Game has us at No. 6.

Collegiate Baseball ranked us at No. 2 a few weeks ago.

Thoughts?

Predestined's poll has us number one

Its little known, but historically unreliable.

13 Sec teams in Predestined's top 40. Only Rebels failed to make the poll.

I agree with the rankings. I think 6-8 is about where we should be. We have a lot of young guys and some unproven players that will have to step up big time this season. Also, a lot of things had to happen for us to make the NC series last season. Vandy getting put out at home buy Louisville, getting out of the CWS without having to play LSU, UNC, or Indiana. I'm not taking away from what our team did, because we did beat some very good teams. I just think that a lot more than our talent played into us making it as far as we did. Throughout the scrimmages I've seen though, our offense seems to be more solid 1-9 than last years team. Everyone is hitting the ball well. We have depth at several positions especially C. Our pitching will also be solid assuming that no one major gets injured. We will also be one of the fastest teams all around in the SEC. Our OF is ridiculously fast. It'll be a good year

I just don't buy the notion that we were lucky to do what we did in the postseason last year.

We earned the right to host a regional by being the third best SEC team (even though we finished fifth in the standings because of our ridiculously hard schedule). And then we won the toughest regional in the country (RPI wise).

After that, we went on the road and swept the #6 national seed UVA- a team that had only lost three home games all year.

The only break we really caught in Omaha was having Vandy get knocked out in their Super. We swept the #3 national seed Oregon State and beat a very good Indiana team. In fact, if you look at this years BA preseason poll, we went 5-0 in the NCAA tournament against the top 3 teams.

The bottom line is that EVERY team who makes the national final is going to catch some break, get clutch hits, etc. but our run should in no way be looked at as a fluke. We finished last year with the 16th best winning percentage in the country, had a 30-20 record vs. the RPI top 50, didn't have any bad losses all year, and won 51 games- all while playing the 2nd hardest schedule in America and having an RPI of 8. We were damn good and earned/deserved everything we got.
