I just don't buy the notion that we were lucky to do what we did in the postseason last year.
We earned the right to host a regional by being the third best SEC team (even though we finished fifth in the standings because of our ridiculously hard schedule). And then we won the toughest regional in the country (RPI wise).
After that, we went on the road and swept the #6 national seed UVA- a team that had only lost three home games all year.
The only break we really caught in Omaha was having Vandy get knocked out in their Super. We swept the #3 national seed Oregon State and beat a very good Indiana team. In fact, if you look at this years BA preseason poll, we went 5-0 in the NCAA tournament against the top 3 teams.
The bottom line is that EVERY team who makes the national final is going to catch some break, get clutch hits, etc. but our run should in no way be looked at as a fluke. We finished last year with the 16th best winning percentage in the country, had a 30-20 record vs. the RPI top 50, didn't have any bad losses all year, and won 51 games- all while playing the 2nd hardest schedule in America and having an RPI of 8. We were damn good and earned/deserved everything we got.
