Didn't mean "thread" ...meant "questions" in the title..."edit" wouldn't allow me to edit the title

I saw something the other day that bothered the hell out of me. Vandy has like 3 players on their team that turned down 1[SUP]st</SPAN>[/SUP] round money to go play college ball? Turning down 2 mil to go play for the Dores?</SPAN>
I’ve never heard of anything like that. When we sign a player that is drafted say in the 5[SUP]th</SPAN>[/SUP] round or so, we gather for a maroon circle jerk. It’s like a big deal when they turn down the 4[SUP]th</SPAN>[/SUP] or 5[SUP]th</SPAN>[/SUP] round offer and come play for us.</SPAN>
It appears Vandy and maybe a few other programs have something we don’t because I’ve never heard of us getting 1[SUP]st</SPAN>[/SUP] rounders on campus. How can these programs manage to sign these type of players when it appears MSU and most others don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell in getting them? ****, no wonder they swept us and most other SEC teams this year. I’d put money on those lucky 17’s winning it all this year. If other SEC teams start signing similar talent and we can’t get any better than 4[SUP]th</SPAN>[/SUP] and 5[SUP]th</SPAN>[/SUP] rounders, I’m definitely abandoning all hope of ever seeing us win it all. Things have changed and for the worse it appears for the Maroon and White. </SPAN>

I think their only player who turned down millions was bedee. Same with Karsten Whitson at Florida. He turned down money being the 9th pick to come to school. Ziomek was a 13th rounder in high school.

I think Cohen decideds he would rather go after the kids who have a very good chance of making it to campus. Then the top 20 kids in the country where maybe 10% don't sign. Ole miss does the opposite. They lost several kids to the draft this year. Then you are stuck with empty spots or having to sign a C grade player.

Vandy is a rarity in baseball. They had several players who could have gone pro but decided to come back for their senior year. I think Lindgren if he develops can be just as good as ziomek. Both were drafted same area out of high school.

This is the first year we have seen a jump in recruting. This years draft will be interesting to watch. These are the first kids that have seen us win on a consistent basis.
