One thing I’ve noticed about this years class is the size of our commits. Much has been made by yancy calling us midgets which is stupid in first place Bc you have twin towers in Clark and Cumbest, James good size etc..also who cares if they Are short if they can play which obviously we can
this recruiting class will bring some size and power for sure though.
Slate Alford 3B 6’3 215
Von Seibert 1B. 6’4 235 (might be great option for DH this year)
Jackson Conn P 6’5
Pico Kohn P 6’4
James Wood OF 6’6 205 (won’t make it to campus)
Hunter Hines 1B 6’4 218
Aaron Downs 3B/OF is only 5’11 205 but the guy is absolutely jacked. Can’t imagine what he look like when we get him in our lifting program
Brooks Auger P 6’4. Then we have handful of 6’2 players

we have Gatorade player of the year signed from Louisiana and Alabama, nice to steal from other states like they do us in football.
this may just be the beginning, future is bright boys

Thanks for sharing this. Who has the summer league list for the returners?

I know Sims, Fristoe, and LoTan are with USA and Clark is in the Cape. Where is everyone else?

Good stuff. This may be a completely unfair assessment, but it always felt to me like we didn’t entirely capitalize on the ‘13 national runner up year with recruiting. I mean, we obviously had some special players between ‘14 and ‘17, but i don’t think it was the leap that some had hoped.

With 3 straight trips to Omaha, the Dawgs sealing the deal this year, and NIL now in play, something tells me that Lemonis and co are about to blaze a trail unlike anything we’ve seen before. Speaking of which, I’m looking forward to the announcement of his new deal which I hope puts him in the top 3 nationally

a few things to note....

name slips my mind, but the LHP from alabama is a complete stud....sits 93-95 and mixes in mid 70s breaking with 80s slider.....however....I doubt he ever makes it to starkville.....jack walker plays in the same organization as my son, so i keep up with him.....he is also a stud....i think he will come to campus instead of pros....he will add about 15-20lbs of muscle and be a high draft pick in a couple of years....future looks great!

a friend of mine's son is playing on the 2024 ECS tournament team and he fills me in on a lot of recruiting stories and some of the players he sees.....he mentioned his son's team played the no 2 2024 team in the country this past week, and every kid on the team had a D1 offer, and not a single kid was under 6'......i think it was USA Elite?

interesting stuff

It wasn’t Yancy who I heard initially called us short, the was the color guy for OM radio.

Cohen didn’t recruit very well. Not on the level as Lemonis.

The middle infielder is really the only guy who can be short. Lemonis is really getting big guys for corner positions. 1B, 3B, LF, RF

Take a look at some MLB rosters, I think Cohen recruited just fine. Now maybe he didn’t always recruit size but I’m not really sure that matters.

Wrong on the first count, by long shot. You may be right on the second, but we don't know yet.

Cohen recruited great here considering the circumstances. He maneuvered us through a difficult time where bats/balls were changing, Ole Miss was dominant, and our program was at its lowest point in forever. Dude almost won a national championship.

Lemonis has proven he is a great coach, given the material. We do not know yet if he's a great recruiter, though he's got a good reputation for it.

No matter how good of a recruiter one is, the program does much of the recruiting. And the program was different when Cohen got it, vs. when Lemonis got it.

We had the third most players on MLB opening day rosters this year and only one of them was not recruited by Cohen. Only Vandy and LSU had more. But tell me more about how Cohen did not recruit well…

Cohen’s limitations here were over-managing and not always getting the most out of the talent he did have.

But Lemonis’s philosophy is more size and athleticism for sure. We’re bringing in a lot of big guys who can hit for power and also run pretty well. You won’t see too many 5’9” guys playing 3B or corner OF going forward. This group of position players is our best since the TA/Rowdey/Westburg/Foscue/Hatcher class.

Agree on all points. Most of you know I'm a big Cohen critic, but the fact is he brought our baseball program back from oblivion, and after a bad misstep hiring his replacement (he should have either worked a dual role as AD and baseball coach for a year or let Henderson take over as an interim) he made a fantastic hire in Lemonis.

Keep in mind that if we didn’t get Cann, we didn’t get TA. Everything worked out just fine despite Cann’s lack of good judgment.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is the 2nd year in a row that we've signed 2 Gatorade Player of the Year in the same class. I'm thinking last year Fristoe was GPY for KY and Tepper was GPY for SC.

Someone refresh me on what Cann's tie in with TA was? I remember us stealing him late from LSU and pissing Maneiri off. What was so strong in TA wanting to play for Canizaro?

I think your perception of Cohen's recruiting is probably skewed by him going all in on small ball before the ball and bat change.
