I noticed we just got a commitment from the No. 1 rated player in the state of Ohio. That seems… really good.

I don’t follow baseball recruiting very much unless it pops up in the general State newsfeeds. I feel like our baseball commitments/signings have been in the news a lot lately. I don’t think I’ve seen this much activity in recent years outside a few marquee names and I feel like it’s mostly a discussion about whether or not they’re skipping college to go pro.

Is O’Connor killing it, is this just a side-effect of our first fully-funded scholarship rosters, or some of both?

I don't think we've ever gotten 4 out of the top 60 before.

Also just got the top-rated 1st baseman in the class, who happens to be Justin Jenkins' son. Thought that was very cool.

With NIL alot of guys that were thinking minor leagues might get paid more going to college. It's a factor for sure.

So many baseball prospects go pro from HS it’s hard to get excited. maybe Bauer and Parker show that is changing but for me too early to tell.

All the new NIL money is going to change things a little. I'm not saying we will hang on to 90% of these guys, but I think the "draft attrition" will be slightly less.
Yeah, we might have lost a guy that was drafted in the 10th round previously, these are the guys that will make more in college than the slotted signing bonus.

Edited to add the slot values, it's highly possible with NIL that they could make the amounts from 4th or 5th rounds down, then sign with a team later and still get a signing bonus.

When I was at the Ryder Cup this fall, I took the time to wear MS State gear both days. People would stop me and ask about baseball. Neat. I think our future is glowing bright.

Agree on the slightly less part. Won’t be some windfall, but we will get a couple more.

Main reason is that you don’t really pay big NIL to freshmen. In baseball they need to prove themselves before you can take that risk.

Heard a legacy is on the verge of committing- if so, the kid can absolutely play

potential draft risk though

Brian O'Connor is easily the most aggressive recruiter we’ve ever had in Our baseball program.
This is the take. This staff has been together so long outside of Parker obviously. They know what they want in players. They have a fully funded program from scholarships to most everything else. If the fire keeps burning like it is seemingly for them. We could be extremely talented for years to come.

He’s killing it. Like a GD boss. Make no mistake. We hired the guy that we needed
