Baseball RPI update

Taking two from Georgia dropped the Diamond Dogs from #18 to #30 in the RPI. Before the weekend, State's SOS was best in the nation, now it's tenth. Of course being ranked #30 in the RPI is last in the Western Division. All five other teams are currently in the top 17. This week's opponents are 12th (Ole Miss) and 38th (S. Carolina). If this team finishes above .500 overall, it would almost assuredly get to an NCAA regional on the sheer strength of the conference and quality wins, but that might be a tall task.

Hard to believe, but as if today there are 3 SEC teams with conference records worse than MSU & 1 conference team with a conference record the same as MSU.

That means, unless somebody goes on an unforseeable winning streak, Bama, UT, UGA & Kentucky will spend the rest of the season fighting it out with MSU for the 8th place spot in the SECT.

I think they finished 15-15 in the SEC and went to Omaha. No NC, but still his point remains.

I said that this past weekend was so important for us. If we lost two out of three or had gotten swept- season's probably done for us. Now for the time being, we're at least still in the game for now.

If we can get hot, and keep our heads above water, we will be OK.
