Exams take up at least one week.
I think it's smart personally. We get more games up front, so we can use more guys early and see what they can and can't do once SEC play starts. It gives the team more rest during SEC play and we can rest our pitchers and have them fresh for SEC play- I'm mainly talking about relief pitchers like Caleb Reed. When we don't have a midweek game, it makes our bullpen a little bit deeper because we can use our midweek guy in relief if we need to. It allows the coaches to work with the players as they need to without having to play another game and not correct problems. We don't have to use a fifth starter during SEC play. And it helps keep our team fresh.
Also, if we need to reschedule a game, we have time to do that without a lot of complications and have a lot of flexibility.
