In looking forward to our 4 game tournament with Arizona and UC Santa Barbara (one that I am going to), I decided to scope out the competition. Here is what I have for Arizona:

- 2012 National Champions

- They didn't make it to the NCAA Tournament last year

- [Insert Ron Polk and Greg Byrne reference here]

Arizona had a pretty good start to the year, starting 6-2 with their only losses coming at the hands of Kent State and Utah Valley (Arizona won both series). But, they just got swept by Seton Hall at home, losing by a combined 19 runs. I then looked at Seton Hall's schedule, and they're 7-2, with their only losses coming to Oklahoma. Arizona clearly isn't at all as good as they were in 2012, but they will bring solid competition to the Bulldogs.

Here is what I have for UC Santa Barbara:

- Made it to the NCAA Tournament last year

- Finished 35-25 overall, 17-10 in the conference (Big West) last year

- They have a really good swim team

UC Santa Barbara is a lot better than what the name of the university tells you. They started with a 5-1 win CSU Bakersfield, and had a 2 out of 3 series win over San Jose State. And they also beat UCLA, that's right, UCLA, in Westwood may I add, 6-4. They also swept Princeton, scoring a combined 38 runs in 3 games. This team is good.

Actually, the conference UCSB is in tells me they're a damn good team. That's a major conference in baseball and if you made the NCAA tournament out of that conference, you're legitimate.

I agree wholeheartedly.
Consider the teams in that conference:

Cal Poly
Cal State Fullerton (16 CWS appearances, 4 CWS Championships)
Cal State Northridge
Hawai'i (1 CWS appearance)
Long Beach State (4 CWS appearances)
Pacific
UC Davis
UC Irvine (1 CWS appearance)
UC Riverside
UC Santa Barbara

Thats 22 combined CWS appearances and 4 titles... Don't let the names of the schools fool you, the Big West is legit when it comes to baseball.

UC Santa Barbara could be the best team we've faced thus far. They would easily compete in the SEC. It's going to be a tough grind in Tucson this weekend.

Thanks for the info. Must have overlooked Cal State Fullerton, they dominate in today's game.
