That might be a little ambitious since we play I think 52-53 games (I know I should know) given how difficult our SEC schedule is not to mention we have a few tough non-conference games such as Samford. I think we can win 36 or so during the regular season.

1. You insist Jones is "good as gone"
2. You think Mullen should be fired
3. You set an over/under at a ridiculous 48. Only 4 teams in all of d1 baseball over 48 games last year. You're just trying to bait people into saying over.

Ok. Let me explain my statements from yesterday. I hope that Jones does not flip, but I now think the chance he does goes way way up because and correct me if I am wrong, there was statement on this board earlier last week that said Jones was not going to visit Oxford. Now we all wake up Sat.morning and most everyone, me included went on panic mode that the same thing that happened 2 yrs. With CJ and Brassell and to a certain extent Singleton was happening to us again with Jones. It was like he sneaked up to Oxford behind Mullens back. Now with the immediate removal statement, I knrw I should not have posted it way. What I should have said said after what happened 2 years ago, if this class falls apart, and another egg bowl loss would it be just cause to fire him. Now maybe 48 wins is too high but they won 40 games last year and with playing their first 19 at home. How many games you play in the SEC Tourney.and regional play I dont see getting 8 more wins such a stretch. Maybe I should have not went over or under bur should have said could it be possible to win 48 games.

CJ was committed for over a year, had his lanyard pulled off his neck at Ole Miss football game and was right down the road from starkville. Most people were skeptical about Brassell when he committed because he was from South Panola and if I remember correctly he decommitted soon after. Singleton never committed to State so not sure how he is even thrown into the equation.

The fact you even questioned if Mullen should be fired over recruiting when he's taken us to 3 straight bowls and 2 new years day bowls is 17ing absurd. While it would suck to lose the anchor to this class, we are still ranked in the top 25. You mother17ers act like we are mid 50's or some ****. A top 25 class at Msu is awesome.

Ok, put Singleton aside. What I am saying is that if Jones flips to TSUN that makes 3 MSU commits that they have flipped to them. How many of theirs has he flipped to us? None that I know of. Iwill be the first to admit That our recruiting is getting much better with much more star power but either Mullen is running a super clean program and doing things right and getting quality players with quaility work ethics, or is he getting his tail handed to him by a bunch of win recruiting at all cost thugs who have not been caught yet. I know the saying if you lie with dogs you gonna get fleas, but I think its time to get a flea collar and jump in. The one thing Mullen had done is hire Brewster. From what I have seen he is not afraid of getting fleas. I hope Townsend can learn from him because if he does we will have a powerful duo for the near future.

If MSU won 40 games last year...

..then 48 is very doable with this upcoming team. You just have to go far into the SEC tournament, win your regional, super regional & win some games in the CWS. Do that & you are probably past 48 wins.

Give me your opinion on this. I know MSU basically had to go very deep in the SEC tourney to make a regional, but do you think if you are good enough already is it better not to go deep in the SEC tourney and rest yourself for regional play, or do you just go with the win em all mentality and see what happens.

I mean, it's possible.

Last year, these teams won over 48 games:
52 - Stony Brook - CWS (215 SOS)
49 - South Carolina - CWS 2nd
49 - Florida State - CWS tied for 3rd
49 - Baylor - lost in Super Regional

Two more won exactly 48:
48 - Arizona - CWS Champion
48 - UCLA - CWS tied for 5th

So 5/8 of the CWS teams. We probably wouldn't have gotten to 48 if we'd made Omaha unless we'd gotten to the final 4 (and still maybe not).

So to get 48 games this year, we'll have to win Hoover again and improve on our regular season AND get to Omaha and win some games, or if we don't win in Hoover, win even more in the regular season or Omaha.

I hope we do it, but it's ridiculous to put 48 as the over/under number. That's why, along with his comments yesterday, I believe the OP is trolling us. He can watch some of us say over, and then go back to NAFOOM and laugh at how "Gene's pack" all thinks we'll do better than all but 4 teams in the country did last year.

Hilarious, troll. Our team that went 16-14 in the SEC and had just swept Host Kentucky would have made the NCAA Tournament even if it had gone 0-2 in Hoover. You're going to have to get better at this.
