We are 13-14 and have a chance to get over .500 or at least to .500 in the SEC this season. We are having a better season than I expected and have showed some improvement(pitching anddefense)but I do miss the days that being .500 in the league was not considered a good season. Yes I know this isn't the same SEC but I still miss those days.

we're at a decade now of being a bottom half SEC team. But one thing is for certain- we are starting to climb our way back into the middle of the pack- so that's progress

You cant just recruit from your camps like he did at the end. Other schools started pushing baseball harder, and Polk really picked a bad time to stop working and pushing the program.

about baseball and only hired baseball coaches as an after thought he was among the best. When baseball became more important and schools began hiring baseball men Polk's level of competence was exposed. Take that as you will but it is the hard honest truth.

He was never that good only better than the poor level many, many years ago. Skip took him to the wood shed and many, many State fans realized that (plenty just would never admit such)......Polk never did and still doesn't acknowledge the fact. That was a big part of his problem....blind arrogance.

to national prominence and a CWS. You people can say what you want but coach Polk was an excellent coach and man. Note to all: it's okay to support Cohen and still have respect for Polk. You don't have to consistently bash arguably the best coach in Mississippi State sports history just to get your cool points. Cohen and Polk have different styles of play and both are/was a good coach. I just don't understand....

Just saying...I'm not a baseball guy, so pile on due to apples and oranges.

But I will admit he cared more at Georgia that he cared at MSU....another reason I never want him associated with MSU again. Some things are just not excusable. College baseball was more important to Ron Polk than MSU baseball....and that is not forgivable.

And their fired coach would probably have done as well. We will never know. But I do know what he did to MSU once he came back. The bottom.
