I've watched SEC baseball as closely as anybody or more in the last 25 years and I can't think of a worse team. I've seen some bad teams but nobody this bad offensively.

I've missed 3 state baseball games since the 2000 season. I struggled through the 08-10 years and even 2015 but this team might make me find something else to do on the weekends. We're unwatchable at this point. We're a clown show out there.

What’s our lowest SEC Win total since the 30 game schedule? Seems like we’ll flirt with it at the least.

I think it’s the worse team of my lifetime.

I'm starting to wonder about how the whole Cann thing went down--not the sordid details, but more the cause/effect relationship with the team. Surely he knew how terrible the team would be this year and maybe he was just looking for a distraction or a way out. The whole narrative at the start of the season that the team was distracted by Cann's behavior just doesn't hold water. Certainly it didn't help, but they would have been terrible regardless.

Makes you wonder if Henderson is even trying. It makes me wonder, anyway.

Cann would've been stupid to drop a new ballpark and a 6, potentially 7-figure salary just because his team was gonna be bad. I think an energetic coach would do wonders for this team. I don't think they are as bad as they have been playing. They just need some actual coaching.

I'd love to have that 2010 lineup that won 6 games right now. I'll take Powers, Adkins, Vickerson, Duffy, Freeman, Collins, Sneed, and Butler all day over this embarrassment of a lineup.

Well Henderson knows he's not the guy, so yes wonder about effort. As far as Cann, this was a man that told a bunch of kids they were the second most important thing in his life and how dedicated he was to them and it was clear that the players really, really liked him. Then he started chasing a piece of tail over his the team. Maybe they feel kind of like kids who have a parent that leaves and breaks their hearts. Easy to say your ok when you aren't really. They have been deeply disappointed and betrayed, not on same level as his wife and kids.

Ugh. Lord help us if one day we're yearning for the days of Vansau and McNamee.

Yeah it doesn't make any sense to me either, but the timing is interesting. I mean something had to go through his head to justify jeopardizing the job. In a way it somewhat parallels the Petrino situation at Arkansas. The guy was popular and successful, but was headed to what appeared to be a bit of a down season when his "problem" arose. His departure turned what appeared to be a slightly "down" season into an absolute mess. There's no way Petrino wanted out or wanted to get caught, but it makes you wonder if an obviously impending downturn in the program messes with these guys heads in other ways.

The Geautreaux for Coggin hire really didn't help much.

17 distractions. Get up in the batter's box and hit the dang ball. If you are caught looking at a third strike, your *** goes to the bench. At this point, it is all about putting the ball in play.

With the kind of money he was making, and the kind of opportunity that he had, if he was looking for a way out based on one year's production, then we never needed him here in the first place.

I do believe we have a great chance to set the record for fewest runs ever scored in SEC play by an MSU team. In fact, last night marked our 12th straight game of scoring 5 runs or less against non-SWAC competition. So there's that.

Yep, not sure what kind of hitting instruction is going on at this point, but you would think reasonably highly recruited guys would be better hitters than they currently are for this team if they were just left alone with no coaching at all.

Macnamee is 2nd on the team in OBP and 5th in BA and he’s not in the lineup last night. We have 8 guys that need to be in the lineup every day. Then we have 1 spot for 3 guys: Foscue, Rowdey or Vansau and my vote is Foscue. The ball comes off his bat hotter than the other 2.

I can tell you what I know to be 100% fact. The Cann scandal with his affair was merely a byproduct of someone who had no clue how to manage his own life or an SEC baseball program. He was NOT fired strictly because of the affair. If he was, it would have happened a hell of a lot sooner than it did. There were red flags galore dating back to last year that had nothing to do with the affair. A lot of the stuff that our players brought to Cohen had nothing to do with his private life. Our fall camp last season (his very first as a head coach) was a complete joke. Players showed up and had glorified sandlot scrimmages with virtually no instruction or structure whatsoever. Players hated him, and not at all in the sense of “he’s too big of a hardass”. The dude was completely mentally checked out and not dedicated to the task at hand, for a long time.

That is why it’s so funny when people are so upset that we missed out on his “stellar recruiting”. Recruiting seemed to be the only thing he really liked doing, which isn’t really surprising when you see how much effort he put into his social media persona and being “cool dad” coach. The recruiting, like everything else, was always going to fall apart just like the program as a whole once his true colors started to show through. It was just a mistake hire from the very beginning.

Coggin wasn’t the hitting coach. He was the main recuritier during the season.
