Three-game series with Rhode Island starting Friday. Rhody finished 37-20 last season with three wins over Top 25 teams away from home, and an RPI of 52 according to boydsworld (State's was 89). They return seven position starters, but lost their top two starting pitchers to the MLB draft and their top hitter to graduation. They're picked to finish fourth in the 14-team A-10 Conference.

I'd like to think a sweep is possible if our Sunday pitcher, whoever that turns out to be, has a good outing. Would also like to see some qualitydepthin the bullpen since startingpitchers usually don't gopast the sixth or seventh inningthis early in the season, andthe bullpenseemed to beour downfall a year ago.

But, who knows what we'll get from our young pitching staff? A 2-1 series win is probably the most likely scenario.

Just checked and the two pitchers they lost from last year weren't all that great. I'd say if we can win 2 of 3 that would be a pretty good weekend. Also, it would suck to have a northern team's schedule. URI plays their first 20 games on the road and doesn't have a home game until March 30.

Rhode Island has a good team, but we should still be able to beat them, and I expect us to sweep them. I wouldn't be upset if we went two out of three.
