"Due to MSU dealing with ongoing and time-consuming eligibility issues
involving non-football matters in the winter and spring of 2010, the
specific SEC request went unfulfilled. Some additional information was
provided to the SEC during July of 2010. Once the NCAA enforcement
staff became involved, Mississippi State University cooperated fully
with its investigation."
Makes me think the SEC was prepared to hide this whole debacle until the NCAA got involved. I truly believe that if Alabama was undefeated and Auburn had two losses, this would have never come out. Someone in the SEC office leaked this out and we look like the rats. MSU followed their compliance obligations fully expecting for this to be swept away by Slive, hence the reason why we did not meet with SEC officials. I feel pretty certain that Mullen will not be hired away by any other SEC schools because this whole ordeal is gonna fall on him. Not that it should because I do not believe we turned this into the SEC expecting it to go anywhere, but he is now on the cross hairs and that is the nature of the beast.
