Gardner dug his own grave. I cant speak for others, but thats why I never thought or posted anything bad against Stans in that instance.

As for Gardner being a Parade AA, I remember reading that and being shocked. Ends up there are a lot of levels of the Parade AA though, if I recall. I have no idea how he got that recognition as every other site and service had him rated much lower. The Parade award was an anomaly.

Pollard though? Pollard was rated high by everyone. ESPN. Scout. Rivals. MCDAA. Its not like one service or award thought he was great and everyone else viewed him as average. Pollard was an elite prospect. He was a legit elite prospect as he also had the numbers to back up the hype.
He hasnt transformed into a great or even very good college basketball player though. But that doesnt mean his HS recruiting status was a sham, it simply means he has been a bust thru the first 2 seasons.

Sidney was, by all accounts, an epic bust at the college level. But does that mean he wasnt a 5* elite recruit in HS and had somehow tricked everyone? Or does it just mean he didnt continue to progress and develop in college?

A wing doesn't have to shoot well from deep. That just means they aren't a lead guard and they aren't a post player. There are essentially 3 positions in college basketball- ball handler, wing, post.
Corey Brewer is terrible at shooting. He is an excellent wing. Go figure. And don't go all engie on me and start spouting off Brewer's 3pt % vs Pollard. Brewer is better, I already know. He is better, but still awful and 3pt shooting is not part of his game for a reason.

Was his spot taken by Zuppardo because he is worse? Or was it taken because of his past? I am not sure how you can claim its for sure because he is worse.

You skip the part where his own coach said he needed to learn to dribble(and shoot from the perimeter) to find success at the next level? So he's a slasher that can't dribble?

If Pollard ends up in a high major conference -- which is a big if at this point -- my money is on his numbers being virtually indiscernible from Zuppardos at best. He certainly wasn't as good as him in any facet of the game while in JUCO...

If it's just his "past" -- where are all his other potential suitors? Why has he not taken any visits yet? Surely someone would jump at the chance to take the risk on a 5*...

Correct, but what most likely happened was that we did the right thing by going ahead and telling Scott that if the final signing period rolls around and we're by chance still one spot short, then he's going to be the one left without a chair, so he could go ahead and reopen his recruitment if he wanted. But I see what you're saying in that we didn't have to formally pull the offer to sign Zuppardo. Or maybe the staff wanted to go ahead and make some breathing room for the possibility engie is alluding to. Semantics any way you look at it, I suppose.
