Been talking with a friend and we have totally different perceptions of coach Rick Stansbury. My friend is content with good recruiting and making the Tournament every 1-3yrs. He also thinks that Stansbury is the best coach we can have.<div>
</div><div>I on the other hand, think that Stansbury is an underachiever, he seems to always have these good players that he cannot do a damn thing with. There are countless names that have come through with a heaping helping of talent that Stansbury has more or less ruined. I understand it's tough to get through to some players but I think he simply does not work the players hard enough (with examples being Renardo Sidney still being out of shape and no one having the ability to make a <17>ing free throw). We have had no players drafted other than Lawrence Roberts....a big man that rebounds almost more than he scores doesn't take much coaching, if any. </div><div>
</div><div>I do not know too much about college basketball anymore, other than MSU, so it's safe to say that I cannot name a coach that can replace him, so when I am asked by my friend who can replace him I'm stumped. Is it just me or is anyone else tired of mediocre basketball? I mean, have we even made it to the Sweet 16 with Stansbury at the helm?</div><div>
</div><div>So my question is...</div><div>
</div><div>(Note: I realize that I may have a few mistakes in here about drafted players among other things. Please feel free to correct me)</div>

But it's been building for a while, and I thought our team looked pretty bad against...who was it, again? Lindsey Wallace? Oh, LINDSEY WILSON. Never heard of 'em. I know we don't have Bost running the game, but as the guys of NFL Live would say - COME ON, MAN! <div>If Ravern cannot score 25 every game I don't know if we can win games until Bost returns. And after seeing how out of shape Sidney is, I don't have a good feeling about him like I thought I would after hearing Stansbury talk about him having the most talent he's ever seen.</div>

8 points in 40 minutes of basketball against 17ing Lindsey Wagner Wilson! Is it also true that Beckham, Benock & Steele combined for a big fat zero points in 59 minutes on the floor against said Lindsey Wagner Wilson College. If true, we are 17ed this year cause it's a long way until Bost and Sidney get in the game. Add to the fact that Sidney hasn't gotin' it together yet we are doomed.

Above post equal mix of sarcasm and reality.

Needless to say though, it's going to be a LOOONGGG bball season. I typically would expect these polls at towards the end of the season, not after Exhibition Game 1.

to my site...should have the message board up this week sometime. Having Corky from Life Goes On as my tech support hasnt turned out as well as I had hoped.

No need to say anything about exhibition games...but there should be plenty to say once the season officially starts

As far as getting a better coach- people said the same **** about Crooms when talk of firing him surfaced. It's just fear of the unknown

I can guarantee you'll still be on here posting about basketball during and after every game. I will gladly invest or advertise on your website though if you will stay off of here

by no means am i comparing the us and syracuse, but the orangemen lost their exhibition game 1 to lemoyne college last year and spent plenty of time ranked number 1 in the country and were a 1 seed in the tourney last year. we got some bad players some playing time and luckily we have an atrocious schedule until we get our players back. "we talking about practice man." x 33 Allen Iverson

Finding a new basketball coach is a lot different than finding a new football coach. I can't think of one person who I would want to have as our coach who we have a realistic shot at getting and I first realized this when I wanted Stans gone and he almost went to Clemson and I couldn't think of one coach I wanted we could get. In football, I was throwing out all sorts of ideas: The OC from Florida, the HC from Tulsa, the OC from OU, Malzahn....basketball is different plain and simple and I would rather take my chances with Stans who gets us to the tourny on a regular basis when before Williams we have virtually no prestige other than the Bailey Howell era and a couple of good seasons every decade. Stans is here and here to stay so get used to it. We also got a state of the art practice facility that is being built which I think has obviously had a major effect on recruiting and it's not even finished yet. If we don't get to a sweet 16 in two or three years, come talk to me, until then, I support Stans 100% eventhough I do get frustrated with his offense.

That your lack of proposed basketball replacements, like me, is from your lack of serious interest in the sport, such as the interest in football. But I don't know for sure.

I know that Stansbury doesn't exactly have a problem recruiting so, by your logic, with our new practice facility we will be getting Top 25 classes from now on.

Also, I trust our Athletic Director will make a great hire if we need a basketball coach in the next couple of years. I had no clue who Dan Mullen was before he was hired, now I think he was possibly the real magic behind Urban Meyer's success. (Not because FLA is having a down year but because I think Dan is the Man). Templeton is gone so I know we will go after a good coach that the fans will like.

Don't really want to say that Stansbury cannot win big games until we get into the season so I leave that alone. Not comparing it to a big game - I know our performance in the exhibition was nothing short of disappointing. Yes, we played some new and lower depth chart players but shoot, without Ravern dropping 25 we get murderized. I don't like that Twany Beckham can be compared to Swervin' Ervin a couple years ago; speeding down the court and not knowing what to do once he's there.
