I talked with one of the athletic department guys this morning and he said there was a 7'2 recruit on campus with Rick this weekend. He saw him taking a tour of the academic center and he was under the impression that he was coming next year. Does anyone know who this could be? I can't imagine us having room for another recruit in 2009.

Word is we are trying to get him in for this coming season. Originally committed/or signed with Cincy. Just talked to someone who saw Rick and Cunningham with the kid at the hump.

It said Courtney Fortson(guard at Arkansas) scored on him at will in the paint and that he got three goaltending calls against him.

I got caught up in the first paragraph read, and the hype of his height and wingspan
and performance at the Lebron camp 2 years ago.. since then
he has been reviewed more and he isnt the top 10 player thought.

1st, if it is Riek, then kudos to the staff for getting him to visit. Thats some serious thinking outside the box. Id love to find out the connections made for us to get in with him.
2nd, ive been reading about him for 3 years now, and year year is his last year before college...how old is he? He would challenge Ontario for oldest player on the team record.
3rd, from everything ive read, he is a serious talent, but still very raw and therefore inconsistent. He has been dominant in some reports, and has also looked lost and been worked over by quick players.
I thought he declared for the draft last season before withdrawing due to the fact that he is as close as i am to being worthy of a draft pick.
If he comes, that'd be huge. He may end up like Campbell, but id think any program worth a damn that is trying to compete with the big boys needs to take a chance with players like him. He may not develop, but he may develop nicely and become a solid role player.

Duke, Uconn, Cincy, Florida and Georgetown offered Reik. I would say thats some serious interest for this guy. Duke picks and chooses who they even offer. If Coach K, Donovan and Calhoun offered this guy, then he definitely has a lot of upside.
No idea about the scholarships, but it will be announced very shortly. sorry i can't find anything in writing yet, but its a done deal.
