Basketball Season is Upon Us

Basketball fandom suffers from poor football. Football is more popular so it will get attention no matter how the season goes. When basketball rolls around if we’re fatigued from bad football and basketball is also subpar then no one has the energy to care.
But it’s time to fully focus on basketball, the above not withstanding. And we could really use a good basketball season.
The possibility that it will be more rewarding is probable. The possibility that the season will be successful is remote.
I’m definitely a football first guy, but love basketball as well. I didn’t expect much this year but do like some of the pieces and have a renewed sense of optimism about what Paris could do if he could recruit a little better. The team is too soft inside and outside of Johnson, Ellis, and maybe the Mongolian kid, can’t shoot. I do think Meechie Johnson will win a game or two on his own this year that we aren’t expecting. I see a mediocre/bad season with a big upset or two.
Elijah Strong and Grant Polk are shooters as well, possibly better than the ones you listed, but both pretty weak on defending. Our defense is subpar overall; pretty easy to get open looks on us. Unlike last season there are legit players top to bottom; I do think Paris is having difficulty putting his finger on what our identity should be, the six that should be the core. I do too lol.
