I know they aren't very good but there is something about this basketball team that has me thinking next year will be much better and in two years may be very good.
Ray did a pretty good job of keeping us out of the cellar with a band aid team. I saw enough to want to see what he can do with 2 or 3 years of recruiting.
The players down the stretch of this season should all get an Iron Dawg membership.
Now wouldn't it be funny if we won the SEC Tournament next week? Can you imagine the reaction of ESPN? We get SC first, and could very well win that one on a neutral court. Almost beat 'em at home.
Beating Ole Miss and now this Auburn team shows that Ray has the potential to get the job done. Just a phenomenal job thus far with the hand he was dealt.
So far this has been very similar to Croom's 2004 season. Uncanny. Come out with good effort after a bunch of people get kicked off the team. Bad loss (Maine is to Alabama A&M). Then a losing streak. Then beat a team you shouldn't. Then beat a team you probably should and gives us hope for next year. Many people had high hopes at that time as well.
I'm excited about next year. Just think how much better Borchert and ware will be when they can actually rest during a game. Between Davis, ready, and applewhite, one will be able to play pg. Hopefully r. Johnson improves as much next year as he did this year. Coach ray will get more out of Thomas next year also
It's more similar to Richard Williams's second season. Undermanned and a lot of freshmen. But fought like hell and won more games than they should have.
