Just in. The game was lost at the 9 minute mark when with a 9 point lead Stans had us spread out and slow down. Vandy went on a 12-0 run. Just what the hell was/is he thinking.............

But I checked the score on my phone and saw the 9 point lead and told myself that we were going to lose because Stansbury will take his foot off the gas and try to start running clock.

I am so sick of this crap that cannot even manage to raise my pulse rate anymore.

We slowed down AND we had trouble handling the press.
It was classic Stans slowdown offense when ahead 3/4 thru the game.

We did have some turnovers, but we broke that press a good many times too and passed up opportunities to press the issue and get some easy baskets in favor of running clock, which like usual, was our downfall...<div>
</div><div>Attack right there and we might push the lead out even further</div>

we GOT stalled, Vandy turned up the efforton defense bigtime. Even my 14 year old noticed. I usuallyu would agree with y'all about the stall stuff. I HATE it when we do that, it will get you beat every time if you do it too early. That just wasn't the case last night.

We were breaking that press very easily, it wasn't even a veryaggressivepress. The problem was the stall we put ourselves in and then theaffinityfor long, guarded, three-pointers coming down the wire (and obviously we were getting beat down low defensively, as always). I have talked to Marcus Grant several times about threes and he insists that they work hard to convince players to work the ball inside out, creating open threes. For whatever reason, it's not happening. Some of those threes that Bost was taking coming down the stretch were completely unforgivable.

He gets the lead and then we throw it around and wait until 2 seconds on the shot clock and jack up a 3 from the time line or drive to the goal and turn it over......over and over and over a again. Same Bury ******** different game.

I hated to see it happen. But it could have worked if and if and if . . .

But I've gotta say that I think we played a pretty good game last night and I wouldn't be shocked if we got it turned around. It is still true that RSS and Dee have just started their seasons. I thought Sidney was working hard last night. I think and hope that he is finally understanding the concentration and effort that is required at this level. He was far from perfect --missed two ft's in one trip. Stupid offensive fouls. Not enough movement near the basket. But he seemed under control and it looks to me like his conditioning is improving.

I'm not ready to give up on this team. It's disheartening that so many have. Of couse that makes it harder for the team to come out of their funk, but they've got to deal with it. They're on a big stage and they gotta put it out there or not.
