I think the problem is that basketball players and their overbearing fathers see that our "team" is not well coached. A bunch of internet superstars here on Sixpackspeak, and several of the coaches around the SEChave that about figured out as well.
Jamont simply ran wild because Stans couldn't implement an offense beyond Jamont creating and didn't give the poor Hans and Delks of the world an opportunity to shine....boo hoo. We wish we had Jamont back now don't we?
Dee gets mad because Coach won't find a strategy to punish opposing defenses for roughing him up. It just keeps happening; guess what...it should keep happening. Dee gets pissed, has turnovers or stupid fouls and Stans tells him to grow up or play smart? Whatever it was he said, Dee is thinking.....if you can't get Turner or Stewart in here to help dribble the ball up and get an easy layup and free me up to score, you aren't worth a 17 as a coach, but he can't say that to the media, he has to say, "Uh, I am mad."
Disclosure** I am one of the few people on here thatlikes Augustus**
Kodi runs free shooting whenever he feels like it, constantly running over people for stupid fouls, telling the coach that he and Daddy think he is a 17-tard, etc.... what is Stans going to do? Suspend him for a game? So what.
Stewart shoots like hell and has never, not once in 4 yrs and a world record # of MSU minutes played gone up strong for a layup. His 3 pt shooting has gotten worse every year and Turner wonders why he isn't playing in his place or Ravern's who doesn't play a lick of defense.
To review: No real teamwork or visible offensive strategy allows these players and their fathers to question the ability (and rightly so) of the man in charge, much like we all have been doing. Doubt in coaching ability leads to lack of respect, which leads to lots of these repeating ******** situations.
The answer to me is to hire a hatchet man Mother 17er of an assistant coach who is hell on offensive game plan strategy, implementation of said strategy, getting steroids to people like Jarvis, Ravern Barry and Phil, and in general *** kicking. Pay him whatever it takes, name him associate head coach. I say Stans has a relatively good thing going with a sold out hump, pretty good players, mild success, 6 SEC West Championships, just have the good sense to identify and bring in the person I have described. If not, get the hell out of the way.
