I am surprised Sussex @ Park View isn't being discussed more on this board. Sussex biggest test yet. Sussex is a top 1A program, but are very beatable. Any thoughts woodlayer or anybody else?

I have not seen Sussex or Park View in years . Do they play organized football or let their athletes try to out play the other team ? If that be the case , it will be a short post season for them . imo

Sussex will always know the veer, but I think they are expanding more on the shotgun spread. Last year they would start in the veer and maybe run that the first half, then run spread the second half. They are very much organized as they have a great coaching staff. They will have a couple guys who will be the best athletes on the field. They also have their own strategies to combat being under sized, even though they are not a small team.

How often do they turn the ball over ? They better have the right athletes for the spread or it could be bad .

They have better athletes than 90% of teams that run the spread. I don't know their turnover margin this year, but I am sure they are taking care of the ball most of the time.

Xcross, what type of athletes do they need to run the spread? I'm just curious about different points of view on the subject.

Guys who understand route running, block downfield, and can catch. Speed is always nice as well. You have to have a QB and I think Sussex has a pretty good one.

Speed is the main factor and you need it year in and year out ! If you have to make major changes every year to fit your athletes , you end up making a lot of mistakes . Teams that run a tight formation regardless of what it is and do this every year , ( Giles and Riverheads ,) for exp. make little change in what they do . Fewer mistakes =more Ws

Sussex shouldn't have a problem scoring against park view Franklin held there own against park view until they started turning the ball over as long as Sussex take care of the football and not put there defense in a bad spot they should win by at least two tds. They might want to keep park view qb off the field I would grind this game out time of possession is a key. Park view qb is very good and run like a deer.
