Here we go in the district after week 8 and its beginning to look like both Courtland and JM are doing what I thought they would do after the slow start! They will be fighting for second place on Friday night in the district! You could combine JM and Courtland and couldn't beat Eastern view! As a matter of fact you probably take a all star team made up from the entire district and would have a hard time winning! Lets see how I pick them this week!
# 1 EASTERN VIEW 8 @ 0 4@ 0 Dist: Well another one bites the dust as Caroline could not keep the View from the dreaded slaughter rule running the clock! Eight victims 8 running clocks! Looks like they will run the table on running clocks that I guess will set a record!
# 2 COURTLAND 3 @ 4 2@1 Dist: Big test this Friday as the cougars take on JM for second! Cant figure the cougars out by losing to KG but if you can figure out the district this year you are a genius! Other than EV I really thought the cougars had the best talent of them all but you don't win on talent unless the talent performs like they should!
# 3 JM 3 @ 4 2@ 1 Dist: It would be a pretty good district if EV hadn't came in this year! Jackets took a while to get started but as I figured Coach Serbay and his fine staff would get his troops in the right spot by seasons end! Looks like their defense is coming around and should be a good game at Courtland Friday! I will be there as that's our CVTV game of the week!
# 4 tie KG @ SPOTSY
# 4 KG 2 @ 6 2@ 2 Dist: Coach Smith has got to be pulling his hair out after Fridays loss to Chancellor! KG has twice the talent as Chancellor and twice its size. I think they was sleep walking the first half after losing to Courtland last week and finally woke up at the half but it was too late. Don't take anything away from Chancellor as they surely deserved the win! Will the real Foxes please stand up!
# 4 Spotsy 4 @ 3 1 @ 1 @ 2 Dist: My boys from post oak are about 3 bricks from a full load. Watched them on TV and it looks like they have trouble with the other teams passing game! Still have a chance to finish 500 but its really been a good season no matter! Coach Jack and his staff has done a fine job with so little size and talent! looking forward to the future as the JV team has what the varsity needs size and talent ! They have only lost 1 game so far this season!
# 5 CAROLINE 2 @ 5 0@ 3 Dist: This is a close one with Chancellor beating KG but as I have been rating the teams on mere talent. Caroline is on the up swing and has a talented running back and QB. They was slaughtered by the View Friday but who hasn't ?
# 6 CHANCELLOR 1@ 7 1@ 3 Dist: way to go coach Glessner and the chargers on your first win. Maybe its 1 or 2 left this year as coach Glessner has done a great job with a team that has less talent than any district team IMO! Was fearing that the coach would lose control from a team that has lost so much. One thing I have noticed with the coach is every time I have talked to him he remains up beat and positive about his team! He is really a nice guy and I wish him well.
Well there you are my fearless picks as we get ready for the playoffs! Looks like three Battlefield teams are a lock for the playoffs and maybe 4. Get out and support these teams as the season winds down. If you attend a game the CVTV crew is doing get over and give me a shout!
