The article didn't say anything about headsets that I noticed; it just said electronic devices. I saw another article on this earlier today that indicated that could include cellphones. At any rate, I just finished my 39th year on a high school chain crew and have never had a need for electronic devices of any type. I've certainly never worn a headset. I do have my cellphone with me in case of emergency but it stays in my pocket during the game. I imagine most everyone on a chain crew has a cellphone with them these days. Have a good one!

It was in a comment section somewhere. Apparently the visiting team was concerned that the chain crew was transmitting stuff they were hearing on the visitor sideline to the home coaching staff. The comment section seemed to agree they were wearing headsets, but there was great disagreement about whether this proved or exonerated them, since there was no attempt to be deceptive about it.

Another forum, admittedly less credible, said they were using wireless microphones. If that is true, I can think of absolutely no reason a chain crew would need that type of communication device. I have about half the chain crew experience as m-squared2 and I know our crew has cell phones in their pockets but that is where they stay.

I also can't think of any reason why anyone on a chain crew would need a microphone. Being on a chain crew is a good time, isn't it? Great view, sometimes too good!

Would seem obvious this would be done to listen in on your opponent’s sideline conversations. How is Battlefield not DQ’d for this?

The school division is investigating? I mean, there’s pretty much no decent reason these guys all were wearing the sound gear. Ignorance of the rules doesn’t mean protection from consequences when caught breaking the rules.
