oh well. I was hoping he'd have a Tim Duncan growth spurt. I wonder if he has a height chart in his room like I have for my little kids.

He said he's going to PRCC so he doesn't have to sit out again and can be re-recruited.

towards the end of the season. If he wants to leave after Mullen extended the olive branch somewhat, then he can go.

But that rumor has been around since Sept so we will see.

Just using the eyeball test on Prescott the midget may not have been #2 next year either

Whether or not he takes it is a different story, but if we don't get a QB in this class, I think we would be down to 2 QB's.

I'd say Todd Mays too, but I think we should learn our lesson with the short QBs with Favre.<div>
</div><div>I like the idea of bringing in that Williams guy, at the minimum.</div>

Apparently LSU is now the front runner for Gunner Kiel, who is one of the top QB prospects in the nation. If they get him, I think we would have a good shot at Alford.

we REALLY wanted.......I say we should jump all over Forest Williams from Amory......If we don't offer him, Freeze WILL........Freeze wanted him bad at ASU and he took a trip over there and he likes their offense.......However, Williams would prefer MSU.......Ball is in our court but if don't offer and UM does, he's theres........

What if by a stroke of fate that sweet baby Freezus decides to be merciful and let's us have Alford since he knows he really wants to play football instead of going pro in baseball and that we would be the best school for his development.<div>
</div><div>If we were to get him on our roster... do you think Mullen would device some packages to have both him and Prescott in the backfield? Only reason I thought about this was because on goal line situations, Petal would have him lined up at tail back and their second string qb would hand him the ball.</div><div>
</div><div>The more I saw them do that, it made me think about that combination more often, using him and Prescott both in a triple option type offense where defenses have to not only worry about 3 decent runners (if our #1 running back continues to run with the torch) but also the passing ability of 2 of them. I can imagine some of those plays would be slow as hell, but I really want to know what they would look like.</div>

Mays and Alford are same size. 6 ft. Both are very good and can run Mullens system. Freeze will be going after Mays especially with Mackeys problems. Todd is much better than Brunetti. And Farve? He's not in Todd's league. He is a leader and wouldn't have to worry about him tweeting rediculousness all season.

Because he is short he is no good??? Could it have something to do with him being a redshirt freshmen??? I seem to remember the board, including me, being pissed and dissapointed in Russel last year. Thenthis year we were begging for him. It seems to me that we dont have a real Qb yet period. I am not counting on Prescott because he hasnt set foot in a real game yet. I hope he turns out to be good but more importantly im hoping Russell gets his **** together and makes quick decisions. Experience is the most important thing as a Qb in the SEC.Favre will succeed somewhere and I for one wish him well.

Yancy tweeted after Petal lost the State Championship that Alford said he is "100%" going to college to play both sports. Now, I don't see how he can say that when he doesn't know how high he may go in the draft. I personally don't know if he will go to school or to the draft, BUT of course, LSU will have the upper hand in recruiting a dual athlete. Look at all the players that they've allowed play both sports like Ware, Chad Jones, J. Mitchell, and Landry. For some reason, USM is high on his list so I'm hoping Fedora leaves knocks that out of the equation, and if LSU signs Kiel like someone stated could happen, that helps us tons too. <div>

Dual threat QB is perfect for Mullen's system. And we have a baseball coach that actually knows how to utilize his talent.

if Alford doesn't sign with MLB out of high school. Just going by what people have told me.

And having seen both Mays and Alford play- I think they would be best suited at RB. Both are very good players.

Wasn't his suspension related to grades? And I agree with trying to get the Mays kid from OB. He made play after play after play in the championship game. He may not be a D1 QB but you've gotta find a spot on the field for that guy. Alford looked like an 18 yr Cam Newton. OB had no answer for him. He would look great in our system, and I know Cohen would salivate at the thought of having him. Don't know anything about the Amory QB.

I know that we can only sign 25 but Marcello said we are expecting to sign 28 because of December enrollment of a few. How does that work?

The guy isn't fast, hasn't really shown great ball skills, and can't touch a basketball rim without a ladder. What about him would make someone think he can play wide receiver effectively at all? I notice people saying stuff like this about everyone on our team that isn't good enough for the position they were recruited to play. If I missed your sarcasm then my bad, try using sarcasterisks.

But he's not a D-I SEC QB. So, people want to try to find a way for him to get on the field.

Personally, I think he should quit football and play baseball. He has a good arm- someone would probably take a chance on him and draft him late.

Favre also played safety in high school- he made the MS/AL game as a DB.

but I see nothing out of him that tells me he is a SEC quality wide receiver or ever could be. Judging by what I have seem him do on the field, and a few videos on youtube, he would be hard pressed to be as effective as Zach Smith was as a defensive back. Smith was nota SEC quality safety but he was quite a bit faster than Favre. Favre is competitive and driven and has a strong arm, but that is about it as far as football goes.

I think some people just have a little Fanboy syndrome and want to fit a square peg into a round hole. I would love for him to do well and be a great player for us, but I have seen nothing that indicates he could do anything more than situational gimmicks.

You may be correct on the baseball thing. I have no idea about his baseball skill because baseball is not nearly as dependent on the typical measurables as football. Baseball is more unique, requiring a natural ability and mentality that can carry people to great careers.

I felt there were moments during the season that the pressure to play Favre got to Mullen andunfortunatelyhe obliged. <div>He really impressed me in the Spring, butthat'sabout it. He ended up being a distraction. And if it wasn't for his last name, no one would give him the benefit of the doubt.</div><div>I wish him luck elsewhere.</div>

expecting to get him .... also, I think Beniquez Brown can play QB as well as linebacker, but Dan has already offered on a couple of QBs ... maybe the guy from Oxford as well (that would be sweet irony)
