I am not saying Favre is good or bad.
It is just the fact we can't get kids to come here and sit and be career back-ups or wait their time and provide quality depth.


look at this:
Russell has missed time the last two years because of nicked up injuries, if he was the starter would he have missed time, I don't know
but to rely on him is very iffy ...I know favre wasn't beating our russell next year to start, but if russell goes down like the previous two years.
In year 4 we are sitting with a rs fr (who I think is very good) but injuries do happen ...whats to say his head don't get knocked off because he is a running qb
then what do we have

most are writing this off as no big lost, but he is going into our program for his 3rd year ...he does provide quality depth

He got almost as many snaps as Relf did this year and he'll be at least the starter sharing snaps with Prescott next year. And that's if Prescott is as good as he's being hyped to be.

It wasn't long ago that we had a hard time getting a quality QB on our roster at all, much less a couple that were willing to sit on the bench to provide depth.This year, Mullen had 4 on the roster and even better than that, they were all redshirts. I think he's done about all he can do with the QB depth chart and giving guys like Favre a chance.

I don't think Favre's a bad guy, but I think he just wasn't good enough to lead this team yet and he wants to play. The writing was on the wall that Dak was going to be in the hunt next year so it was probably in everyone's best interest for him to move on if he wasn't willing to sit some more. It would have been nice to keep him but with 2 more years of TR and 4 more of Dak, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Dan will fill the depth chart with another QB or two.

count me in the crowd that hopes he stays because I am very apprehensive about going into a year with only 2 QBs and currently it doesn't look that solid that we will get a top line HS QB though I realize we could get the Amory QB if we decide to offer. But with him, to me, it almost seems like the Favre deal where we finally offered at the end when nobody else would because we had no other options (Freeze may end up offering him for the same reason) and we really needed a QB. I just know it was only a few years ago where Henig got hurt then Riddell got hurt and we were down to our 3rd line true freshman QB Carroll taking over by the 4th or 5th game. He ended up doing alright but its not a situation that I would want to get into again especially when our 3rd stringer now may have to be a converted WR or something.

is now ready to bail as a RFr because he's not starting or it doesn't look like he will start as a SO. Heck, Russell was one of the top recruits in MS coming out and he's only going to get to start as a JR. I mean its not like he didn't get on the field at all this year. If he transfers then I will be VERY sorry we wasted our time on him and will very much regret we ever signed him at all.

I'm with you- we at least need another roster QB, even if to just for emergency if we have a big prospect next year.
