Not really a National Anthem incident as much as a lunatic trying to start a race war in his town by holding up a Confederate flag in the stands during the Anthem. Claiming freedom of speech violation is just silly. High schools can eject anyone they believe is showing unsportsmanlike behavior. All persons responsible for signs, chants, taunts, obscenities etc. are subject to removal at the discretion of the school or state sports organization.

This could just as easily been cited as a "fringe lunatic sent over the edge by the rhetoric of the presidential race."

It's a shame that we seem to be reading stories like this almost everyday.

Where and how did we fall so far off the common sense meter?

Not to deviate too much from the Lunatic Fan thread and thankfully he is now in custody - but I have another fan question.

Capn' are those soccer horns legal in the WSS?

There was one Fan from Hinsdale Central that would blow that Soccer Horn everytime HC did something good (and sometimes for just any reason;))

Was Horn Guy there at the HC/GBW game as well?

Or now we hear about? Where as 20-30 years ago when there was no social media, internet, and these incidents didn't get publicized nearly as much?

Do you think that could be it as well?

Possibly, but the amount of dogs and renegade copy cats out there is disturbing.

School shootings, guys picking off people from office windows, I don't think that occurred as frequently as we see them now.

It's a disturbing society we live in and this presidential election isn't helping.

Were foghorns commonplace in the mid-1980s in Illinois? Seemed more of an east coast thing, like Seven Nation Army as a sport anthem recently.

I rarely notice anything happening in the opposing stands.

The only noise makers we allow at GW are the occasional loudmouth-know-it-all-East-Coasters that have moved into (some say "infected") the area.

Is it that we hear about it more, or is it that lunatics see that they can gain the attention for their twisted agenda and delusionally believe that no matter how horrifying their behavior, there is someone out there that will agree and cheer their behavior in social media.

Seeing that happen every day in the prez race only seems to be affirming the model.

I didn't mean to start sh*t here boys. But the last black cop killer I heard about was blown up by a drone. It seems like most white mass murders or cop killers are caught alive which only serves to increase the publicity which potentially causes copy cats.

We can all agree that anyone who would ambush a cop should pay the stiffest price. I honestly think this thread needs to stop now. At least I know I am leaving. Cheers ssczar. Thanks again for your service to your community.
